Perhaps Enjo is better?

Is there such a name or does it sound made up?

Is there such a name or does it sound made up?

It sounds like a car model. Toyota Engo. Nissan Engo.

If you don't even know if it's a legitimate name, where have you plucked it from?

SmashedPrawnsInAMilkyBasket · 28/01/2024 10:53

I thought it sounded like a dietary supplement, possibly for gut health.

Have you made it up, OP? Or is it a name from outside the UK (presuming that’s where you’re posting from).

Bigearringsbigsmile · 28/01/2024 10:54

It is bloody awful! You do know that you are naming a human being?

Smartiepants79 · 28/01/2024 10:54

Well if you’ve never heard it before then you’ve made it up.
It’s not awful but it is a bit try hard in my opinion.
If you want the Jo sound then you need to spell it with a j.

theduchessofspork · 28/01/2024 10:55

Like Bojo?!

Do you mean Enzo?

BuffaloCauliflower · 28/01/2024 10:55

I love an O ending boys name but this isn’t great. I automatically said it as En-go like the word go, not Jo.
You could think about
Enzo
Cosmo
Jago (which is go like the word)
Kenzo

CurlewKate · 28/01/2024 10:56

Where did you hear it?

Have you considered Ivo?

MonsteraMama · 28/01/2024 10:56

Don't think it's a "real" name so to speak. Enzo is? Or Enyo, but that's a girl's name, she was a Greek goddess of war. But I've never heard Engo.

Chersfrozenface · 28/01/2024 10:58

Well, there's Enyo, the English way of writing the name of a Greek goddess if war. In languages where 'j' is pronounced 'y' Enjo might be used as a name for a girl - haven't come across it, though.

YouveGotAFastCar · 28/01/2024 10:58

We have an Enzo. We get asked a lot about his Spanish/Italian links, which is fine - he does have some! - but I’d expect it’d be a bit odd if you didn’t.

Its not pronounced like how you want this, though.

User1775 · 28/01/2024 10:59

I have taught a few Enzo's in my time.

DoggusDomesticus · 28/01/2024 11:12

It's not nice, OP, sorry.
There are plenty of very nice well established names to choose from.

SquirrelsAssemble · 28/01/2024 11:13

I love Ivo - that's a name.

mateysmum · 28/01/2024 11:14

I'm sorry, but Engo is dreadful. Nobody would think to pronounce the g as a j. It doesn't even sound like a proper word, never mind a name. There are so many other lovely, intelligible names about, some suggested on this this thread.

Mitherations · 28/01/2024 11:15

Ennio Moricone is an italian composer, similar but not made up?

Yougetmoreofwhatyoufocuson · 28/01/2024 11:20

Sounds a bit desperate.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 28/01/2024 11:29

Not a name! Don’t do it!

DuchessOfSausage · 28/01/2024 12:19

Sounds and looks made up. The g has nothing to make a j sound.

I'd think Enjo was pronounced En-yo

User6761 · 28/01/2024 12:59

How about Ingo? (German name)

All2Well · 28/01/2024 13:00

It's bloody awful. 0/10

ManchesterBea · 28/01/2024 13:02

🫠

Robinhoods · 28/01/2024 13:03

I thought people would read it with j as it looks like Engine?

But thanks all! We will try think of a different one

All the words I can think of ending in -ngo have a hard G - lingo, bingo, jingo, mango, tango, flamingo
