Hi all, interested to hear your thoughts. Baby due in three days so the clock is ticking...

I prefer Cassie.

Yokaiwatch · 18/01/2024 12:05

Cassia imo isn’t as nice as Cassie. I think it will likely be shortened to Cass which is nice.

Maya is nice but I am drawn more to Cassia/Cassia.

Does one flow nicer with the surname?

Congratulations x

As you k on not have two names to choose from I would have the baby born and then decide.

Olika · 18/01/2024 12:09

Gosh too many spelling mistakes sorry. Wanted to say as you only have two names to choose from I would wait until the baby is born.

Bobbybobbins · 18/01/2024 12:11

I really like Cassia and it is less common- I'm a teacher and we have loads of Maya/Mia

Lampzade · 18/01/2024 12:14

Cassandra - Cassie for short
Not keen on Cassia , it sounds a bit harsh

UrsulaBelle · 18/01/2024 12:44

Would Cassia be pronounced cash a or cass ee ah?

mumofgirls35 · 18/01/2024 12:47

Thanks so much for your responses - it would be pronounced Cass ee ah and Cassie for short

I think I prefer Maya

BarbieGirl999 · 18/01/2024 13:00

Cassie.
Cassia, isn't that a make of calculator?

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 18/01/2024 13:03

That's cassio but yeah it's similar enough that it could pose a problem in secondary school.

That said I like Cassiopeia as a potential girls name.

NachosAndCheese · 18/01/2024 13:22

Cassia because there are Maya/Maia/Myas everywhere.

FraterculaArctica · 18/01/2024 13:25

Love Cassia. It's a type of cinnamon tree. Maya nice too but way more of them.

sunflowerpinks · 18/01/2024 13:26

Love Cassandra or Cassia

Onelife2024 · 18/01/2024 13:45

I love Maya - it’s popular for a reason and I don’t think it’s so overused to be likely to have more than one in a class.

I personally find Cassia a bit fussy as a full name but like Cassie as a nn.

FayCarew · 18/01/2024 13:47

Not keen on either but Cassie is great.
Maya seems too much like Mia, Maya, May, Mabel, Maeve etc. When the names stop being popular they will seem dated.

The calculator was Casio.
I'd say Cassia as Cass-ya and Maya as May-a unless corrected.

HJ40 · 18/01/2024 13:52

Mners and their nicknames 😂

Cassie short for Cassia 🤦‍♀️. Just call her Cassie FFS. It's beautiful and far nicer than Cassia.

FayCarew · 18/01/2024 13:54

I agree @HJ40 .

Noomthgil · 18/01/2024 14:00

Definitively Cassia. I think it’s beautiful.

Maya is lovely too but when you combine it with all the Mia’s, Mila’s, Mina’s etc it’s definitely the name that I hear the most. I also know 4 Maya’s spelt this way, two are pronounced May a and two My a. So it always confuses me which pronunciation I need to use for each child!

Cassia is much more individual and not following a trend so much.

Doublebiscuit77 · 18/01/2024 14:00

Out of the two I prefer Cassia, but prefer Cassie to either. Cassandra is also nice, could have Cassie as a nickname.

PickledScrump · 18/01/2024 14:12

Cassia is beautiful and unusual definitely go for Cassia, don’t use Cassie though

Maya is so dull and you will be giving your child a lifetime of correcting spelling and pronunciation.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 18/01/2024 14:35

Cassia is lovely

beehappy19 · 18/01/2024 14:38

I like Maya

DesertSnow · 18/01/2024 16:35

Cassia is less common if that's a factor for you

WashItTomorrow · 18/01/2024 16:39

Cassia is great. Cassie is a bit nondescript.
