Nickname Perci. For a girl, what do you think?

I like the name but would go with Sephie as a nickname. Percy pigs aren’t going anywhere soon and so much chance of bullying.

Good point

Scutterbug · 13/01/2024 15:32

I love it. I know one and she goes by nn Penny.

PurpleBugz · 13/01/2024 15:33

I love it so much I'm adding it to my list x

Tinytigertail · 13/01/2024 15:33

Gorgeous name and I love Persy as a nickname

LaughingAtClowns · 13/01/2024 15:34

It's awful

Nineteendays · 13/01/2024 15:35

Now I know how you pronounce it, it does sound pretty. Agree Sephi is better than Percy though

RosaSkyes · 13/01/2024 15:37

I love it with Sephie of even just Phi as a nn.
Don’t love Perci and I wouldn’t want to be one!

love the complete name though

Katypp · 13/01/2024 15:40

Greek names seem to be the next big thing for names so there may be many more Persephones around the corner.
Far too pretentious and try hard for me. Plus the added irritation of a preordained 'nick name'
Not for me

WilhelminaBunter · 13/01/2024 15:42

Love it and love Perci, Effie, Sephy, Sophie as shortenings

Mynewnameis · 13/01/2024 15:44

I don't think enough people would know how to pernounce it for me to consider it. I only found out a few years ago when I met a child with the name. She was shouting at other kids who couldn't say it.

Sandysandwich · 13/01/2024 15:50

Personally I find it too long and a mouthful. I can't imagine having to introduce myself as Persephone, it just feels a bit pretentious

SwordToFlamethrower · 13/01/2024 15:53

Stunning!

Nestofwalnuts · 13/01/2024 15:58

I like it. And I love Perci as a nn. Also love Sephie.

I'd pronounce it Per-SEFF-o-nee with the o half way between uh and o in 'on'

Effie is nice, too. This wasn't just a 'made-up' name for The Hunger Games either; I've read a few early-20th century books in which the protagonists had this name.

There was a little-known Irish author called Frances Elizabeth who was known as 'Effie' because of her initials.

WhiteCatmas · 13/01/2024 16:07

Why on earth would you do this to a child?
Please don’t or a future of ‘Purse-phone’ awaits her.
That’s before you get into the being kidnapped and forced to marry the god of the underworld.
Sophie is nice. Penny. Please pick something people can say easily.

Cmon now, Persephone is a very well known name.

AyeRightYeAre · 13/01/2024 16:12

Too much although quite like Perci

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 13/01/2024 16:14

Love it.

And ignore those that say you have to have an easy to say name. I have a long, unusual name and it's not a problem at all. It makes me memorable!

WilloTheWispy · 13/01/2024 16:15

Love it, and Percy as a nn.

whosaidtha · 13/01/2024 16:15

My husband wanted this and I vetoed it. I liked Percy but Persephone was too posh for me. It's becoming popular though. I know 3 under 5.

Wictc · 13/01/2024 16:26

One of my good friends is called Persephone, but everyone calls her Fanny. I like the name and the nickname.

Strokethefurrywall · 13/01/2024 16:27

I know a 12 year old Persephone (nn Perci) - not in Uk.

It's a cracking name, and Perci or Seph as nn are great!

Frasers · 13/01/2024 16:29

The thing to remember though is it is a name she will never use or be called. So whatever nickname you chose is basically the name you’re giving her,

as such, do you really wish to name your daughter Percy ? I would not.

AnotherCountryMummy · 13/01/2024 16:39

Absolutely LOVE

LauraPausini · 13/01/2024 17:00

It's a lovely name - the two Persephones I've met (different ages) are known as Sephy and Persey.
