Down to our two favourites and undecided.

Skyler or Tommy?

I've never heard of Skylar being unisex? It's very feminine.

Tommy as a nickname for Thomas is alright.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 04/01/2024 21:37

Between the 2 then Tommy, as Skyler really will not be received as a boy’s name at all.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 04/01/2024 21:38

Sorry. Skylar.

Greeneyegirl · 04/01/2024 21:45

I know a few Skylar's who are girls, and it's moving up the ranks on the girls side. Prefer Tommy

Coffeeandcakemum · 04/01/2024 22:27

Skyler

theduchessofspork · 04/01/2024 22:27

Thomas nn Tommy

Not Skyler.

Onelife2024 · 04/01/2024 22:39

Tommy (I would use as a nn for Thomas, which I love)

Skyler I’ve only heard as a girls name and isn’t to my taste for a boy

UsingChangeofName · 04/01/2024 22:56

Depends if you are having a girl or a boy.

I mean, I'm not keen on Skyler, but that's the one (from your choice) if having a girl. I'm not that keen on Tommy, but that's the one (from your choice) if having a boy.

OldBeyondMyYears · 04/01/2024 23:00

Skyler is just awful OP, sorry. And if you want 'Tommy' then do the decent thing and put Thomas on the BC to give the boy a choice as he matures.

AuntMarch · 04/01/2024 23:04

I thought this was going to be a guess the gender post, also didn't know Skyler as unisex... don't like it for a girl anyway though.

I have a Thomas though, so biased perhaps 😏

kitsuneghost · 04/01/2024 23:07

I am bucking the trend but have only heard Skyler as a male (both American though)

FedUpMumof10YO · 05/01/2024 05:14

Tommy

apronbellybarbie · 06/01/2024 14:31

Tommy

Lifeinlists · 06/01/2024 14:44

Tommy will be Tom by the time he's about 9 I should think. And that would be a good thing.

Skyler? Nope.

HareSong · 06/01/2024 14:49

Skyler is an anglicised form of the Dutch surname Schuyler, and just makes me think of the Schuyler sisters in the musical Hamilton! If you name him Tom, or Thomas, he has options as to what nickname he wants later on.

Skyler is beyond hideous.

Imagine a middle aged man having to say his name is Skyler?!

I do know a very successful middle aged man called Skylar (different spelling though) 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

Purplecatshopaholic · 06/01/2024 14:58

On the basis that Skyler is awful, I’d go with Tommy!

UnfortunateTypo · 06/01/2024 15:01

Isn’t Skyler the wife in Breaking Bad that everyone hated? Go with Tommy much better for a boy.

newyearnewnothing · 06/01/2024 15:04

Neither. But definitely not skyler

Silverbirchtwo · 06/01/2024 15:04

Skyler sounds a bit dodgy to me, like skiver or shyster. No offence to any Skylers out there.

Princesspollyyy · 06/01/2024 15:11

Sorry neither. I detest the name Tommy. Tom is not too bad, and Skyler is just awful.

Mywhoopdeedoo · 06/01/2024 15:19

So Peaky Blinders or Breaking Bad ?

AllIsWellish · 06/01/2024 15:54

Tommy and mine doesn't have Thomas on his bc . As an adult he can always go by Tom if he chooses. Mines 13 and still goes by Tommy
