Surname is Johnson. Should probably name change but I can't really be bothered.

What middle name would you choose for baby girl Holly Johnson?

Your first name? One of your parents or grandparents?

I'll say Elizabeth (or Eliza) as a suggestion as my middle name is barely touched these days!

I was a bit apprehensive about using my own name, or the name of someone related as we didn't do this for our first daughter. We just picked one we liked, and maybe I'm overthinking it but I didn't want either feeling they were treated differently but honouring a family member etc.

Please come back and let us know what you choose!

I definitely will! My current favourite is Rosalie but it's not a mutual feeling apparently 😂

My niece is Holly Morwenna, which I think is beautiful.

JaxiiTaxii · 06/12/2023 11:45

It's a great name. Strong.

I'd go for something one syllable & out there for the middle name.

I don't know what that is though 😂

Kattiekat · 06/12/2023 11:55

Holly Elizabeth Johnson
Holly Catherine Johnson
Holly Penelope Johnson

I think a longer middle name to balance out the short first name.

TickyTacky · 06/12/2023 11:55

I'm 30, guessing you're close in age?

She's due end of Feb so not a Christmas baby. That's something I've actually only ever seen on Mumsnet, I know plenty of Holly's born throughout the year lol

My sister has a middle name and I don't. It's never felt odd. My mum gave my sister the name of her sister who had passed away. There was no one they wanted to honour in my name really but I never minded growing up.

I like just Holly Johnson. But I also like the flow of one syllable suggestions.

Holly Rae Johnson
Holly Jean Johnson
Holly Jo Johnson

But if there's not one that feels right you shouldn't feel obliged because your other child has one :)

I’ve always liked the slightly out-there name Tootrybes.

Holly Tootrybes Johnson. Sounds good to me.

I'm sure this is a joke but it's gone right over my head, sorry!

Holly Marie sprang to mind.

I’m in my 30s and I’m sure even my parents wouldn’t think Frankie Goes to Hollywood. I don’t know anything about them except for that one song. And if people do make that connection, so what??

Violetparis · 06/12/2023 16:50

Melissa
Rowan

WhileMyDishwasherGentlyWeeps · 06/12/2023 16:53

I was just having a tiny joke. Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s biggest hit was Two Tribes.

TBH, the band and singer may be a bit obscure now but plenty of people will remember Holly Johnson.

Let’s put it this way, if my surname was Miller I wouldn’t call a son Glenn.

helpmum2003 · 06/12/2023 16:55

Holly Kate - I'm not usually a fan of nicknames as full name but think Kate goes really well. I agree it should be a short name with a consonant first letter because of the y.

Gherkingreen · 06/12/2023 16:59

I'd go one syllable: Holly Jayne has a nice ring to it, or Holly Joy - I like the symmetry of the 'y' in both.

londonmummy1966 · 06/12/2023 17:06

Andie Ivy....
