Can't decide on names

We have 3 girls age 2, 3 and 5. Expecting baby 4 (girl) in January. All my girls have nature names. We are torn between Kaia and Summer for this baba. Thoughts? Which do you like better? I love them both equally!

This baby was conceived in the summer. Not that it is relevant whatsoever!! That wasn't the question. I know lots of babies called May who weren't born in May. I also know an April who was born in July.

I know a baby called Autumn who was born in May. I agree, it doesn’t matter if Summer was born in winter.

I think I prefer Kaia although I am not 100% sure how to pronounce it. But it seems a bit of a “stronger” name than summer. Summer is ok too though. I prefer Autumn or Winter as season names and don’t think Winter would necessarily be shortened to Winnie. Only as likely as Summer being nicknamed “Sum”

Mamato4girls · 25/11/2023 08:53

Yeah I agree. Winter feels so much stronger than Summer. It doesn't feel very feminine though.

Kaia is pronounced Kye-a.

I love both
no help but they’re both lovely

HoHoHoliday · 25/11/2023 11:28

Kaia and Summer are both nice names. I struggle with Summer for a winter baby but if it doesn't bother you then I think I slightly prefer that name to the other.
What about Skadi - she is the Norse goddess of winter, I always thought that's a fab name for a winter baby!

HoHoHoliday · 25/11/2023 11:29

Or Ember? Bringing warmth in the winter.

SamphireAndSeaGlass · 25/11/2023 14:08

Wouldn't go with Kaia.
Summer is ok

How about...

Hazel
Flora
Daisy
Violet
Marigold nn Goldie
Paloma
Pearl
Savannah

I prefer Summer.

What about Stella or Estelle? Means 'star' so a subtle nod to the Christmas season.

Love Estelle or Estella

Samzzz · 25/11/2023 22:42

Winter! Absolutely beautiful and not as common as Summer.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 25/11/2023 22:45

Summer.

SquigglePigs · 25/11/2023 22:58

Of course you can use Summer as a name if she's born in January if you want.

Having said that I prefer Kaia. It's pretty and I think works better for an adult as well as a kid than Summer does.

peaceinourtime · 26/11/2023 09:55

Summer for sure, it’s lovely name. Don’t worry about the overthought of names that you can see on here about the season. I’m sure there are lots of children with the name Summer who aren’t born in summer.

FayCarew · 26/11/2023 10:31

This quite surprised me Babies called Summer in England & Wales since 1996 (darkgreener.com). Why the spike in 2008?

ThatshallotBaby · 26/11/2023 10:35

I really like Kaia, very melodic, and pretty.
