DS2 name help Jude vs Percy

coopekid · 23/11/2023 09:22

Expecting DS2 any day now, DH and I have found names so much harder this time around but think we have narrowed it down to two - Jude or Percy. DS1 is Dylan and our surname is Richardson. Which do you think goes better? Any other name suggestions?

Other names we liked but couldn’t agree on - Ivan/ Caleb/ Joseph/ Arthur/ Theo

I'd rather be called Dylan no 2 than either Jude or Percy

'Point the Percy at the Porcelain.' 🍆 🚽

I have only ever heard this on MN so it’s either unique to here or a regional thing!

DuchessOfSausaage · 23/11/2023 18:26

@NotFastButFurious , you're kidding?
It might be regional.

Jude…no brainer !

honeylou42 · 23/11/2023 18:28

Both are lovely

DinaofCloud9 · 23/11/2023 18:29

Jude. Please don't saddle a child with name Percy.

coopekid · 23/11/2023 19:34

Both DH and I like both names that’s why they are in our top two, was asking which name was a better ‘fit’ with Dylan or if there were other name suggestions. Appreciate Percy can be divisive on MN to say the least, didn’t think anyone needed to give opinions about DC1 name though.

Dear God OP, Percy is borderline child abuse, apart from being generally awful he will spend his school career known as Percy Pig

Jude is very nice and goes nicely with Dylan

Dylan and Jude is fine.
100% have told you that.
Only one person on here said they didn't like the name Dylan (rude!).
There's always one.
But you have your answer loud and clear.
Jude Richardson.

dam it, I thought I was mildly posh! 😂

FloofCloud · 24/11/2023 06:56

Jude - all day long

Squirrelsbite · 24/11/2023 06:58

Jude
definitely not Percy

kezzykicks · 24/11/2023 07:02

Percy is gorgeous. Jude is fine, it used to be my favourite name, but it doesn't feel very fresh any more, I know a lot of older children called it. I like your others too, Caleb is another favourite of mine.

SheIsStuck23 · 24/11/2023 07:07

You cannot call your child Percy. Absolutely awful!
I can’t even believe you’re considering it.
Think about how much he’d be bullied and laughed at and ask yourself why you’d want to do that to your child?

100% definitely Jude!!!

noooooooo · 24/11/2023 07:09

Jude, by far. I know it’s trendy at the moment but I’ve got a Jude. It’s a family name and he’s also the patron Saint of Lost Causes, which always appealed to me. Also really like Ivan.

RecycleMePlease · 24/11/2023 07:10

We also have a local Percy, and no-one bats an eyelid here either because it suits him down to the ground - Percy Pigs are only mentioned if someone actually has them, and I have never heard someone call their penis Percy outside of MN!

I think a lot of these things it depends on if you've got fond memories of it - there was a nice old bloke who looked after the village hall grounds when I was a kid called Percy, so I don't have a problem with the name at all.

I like Jude too, - we've also got one of those at school - but every time I hear the name, the song comes into my head, so I suppose it depends how you feel about that!

DaisyMaisyFaisy · 24/11/2023 07:13

I always think of Jude as being a girls name.

You could always go for Percival, and Percy for short. Dylan and Percival sound quite nice together

Spidey66 · 24/11/2023 07:15

I like Jude and all your discarded names except Ivan. Percy's awful, sorry.

ThatFlightyTemptressAdventure · 24/11/2023 07:25

Dylan and Jude are great together and I think Jude goes better with your last name too.

I’m not a fan of Percy and it feels very different from Dylan. Percy feels more like a name like Wilf.

Copasetic · 24/11/2023 07:28

Definitely Jude. I considered it but went with Gabriel (Gabe).
