One of my Spanish clients is called Txell (short for something but can't remember what) - how do you pronounce it? In my head it's "tix-ell" is that right?! Fortunately all our correspondence has so far been by email but I am dreading the day I have to phone and ask to speak to her.

Hola, I am Spanish and that is not a Spanish name. Is that the way they write it?
If it is a nickname or short for something else, Tx in Spain, specially in the Basque country, where it used most, is pronounced like the "CH" of CHORIZO or GAZPACHO.
I hope it helps

Hey, it is a catalan name... MERITXELL....which is used for girls. It is only used in the region of Catalunya.

The correct abreviation is TXELL!
