Is Ava everywhere/will it be everywhere in a couple of years?

I love love love it, and so does my dp, but I am getting vaguely concerned that it's going to go up hugely in popularity following celebrity endorsement. Would that make me mad to use it?

We've got a little girl in our road called Ava. She is about 1 and a bit and I hadn't known anyone before her with that name tbh.

marina · 10/03/2008 13:54

Hear hear ruby
Dd's name turns out to be more popular than we realised initially but it suits her and we like it
Ava is a lovely name

nickytwotimes · 10/03/2008 13:54

I have a friend whose lo is called Ava, 20mths. I think it is getting steadily more popular, but don't think the place will be swarming with Avas!

MegaMindy · 10/03/2008 13:54

I don't think it will be that popular.

NorthernLurker · 10/03/2008 13:54

I read a bit of Myleene Klass's book in Borders on Saturday. Irritated me so much that I'm afraid it has prejudiced me against this name.

How about Ada - much less common.

Nemoandthefishes · 10/03/2008 13:55

I loved it too when expecting DD1 but cant remember why we didnt pick it. I have met one other Ava as yet.

Fimbo · 10/03/2008 13:58

I don't know any Ava's. None in dd's or ds's schools either.

artichokes · 10/03/2008 13:58

We know quite two Avas, both are under two years old. We liked it when we were thinking a name for DD. We also liked Eva and Ada (less common variations).

littlerach · 10/03/2008 13:59

I wanted it for dd2, but it really didn't go with our surname.
I iliek it.

southeastastra · 10/03/2008 13:59

i know three

PrincessPeaHead · 10/03/2008 14:00

I know 2 Avas under 3

Isn't there a website you can see how popular it is and (more importantly) how fast it is rising? That would give you a clue

TheFallenMadonna · 10/03/2008 14:01

You love it. Name your daughter Ava

hopefully · 10/03/2008 14:03

Fantastic. I can happily cope with there being some, just didn't want every other child in the class to have the same name. Although it would have to get REALLY popular to put me off.

Poor baby is still going to be nameless if it turns out to be a boy in September though...

I had a feeling it was mega popular so just checked it out and it was the fastest climbing name of 2007! It went up from 60 something in 06 to number 41 in 07 and so far is at 24 in 2008. It's lovely but I know a couple and think it could be the next Grace or Ruby.

katierocket · 11/03/2008 07:04

There were two Ava's in DS1's old class.

soph28 · 11/03/2008 07:28

I know of at least 2 Ava's under 3 aswell. It is popular but don't let that stop you.

We called our daughter Chloe almost 2 yrs ago and have since realised it has been in the top 5 most pop names in the last 3/4 yrs.
However, we don't know any other Chloes and have rarely come across anyone of a similar age with the same name so...
