Hiya!
I’m trying to decide between Alice and Amelia. Love them both but can’t decide. Please let me know which you would choose from the two, thanks x

Alice.

Amelia has 'mealy' in the middle. Very offputting.

OopsieeDaisy · 03/11/2023 09:31

Alice, lovely name. Amelia is overused.

Oganesson118 · 03/11/2023 09:32

I think Amelia is prettier. Alice is a sort of bland, nothing name and the association with Alice in Wonderland isn't a good one.

TenThousandSpoons · 03/11/2023 09:37

I prefer Alice, by miles.

Fi269 · 03/11/2023 09:40

There have been so many Amelias born over the last 20 years; I would go for Alice instead as it's more unusual and more interesting.

KirstenBlest · 03/11/2023 09:45

I can't not hear the ME or mealy in Amelia

Catandsquirrel · 03/11/2023 10:09

Alice, both cooler and more classic

Pottedpalm · 03/11/2023 18:19

Amelia. Or Amelie.

tokesqueen · 03/11/2023 19:32

Alice. For fear of Amelia becoming yet another Millie.

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 03/11/2023 22:07

I like both but slightly prefer Alice. My parents wanted to call me Alice, but our surname began with Will- and they were worried about it sounding like Swill in the middle! Bit of a niche worry, but maybe something to consider if you happen to have that sort of surname.

bellalou1234 · 03/11/2023 22:14

Alice.. but like millie and mimi as a short name for amelia... no help. I love ylthrm both

FrostyGirl66 · 03/11/2023 22:17

Definitely Alice.

Every Amelia I've encounter while my kids have been at school, have been bullies!

SallyWD · 03/11/2023 22:17

Alice is lovely. I dislike Amelia.

Soffii87 · 03/11/2023 22:18

Amelia

Even though it means 'absence of limbs'? (Medical definition.)

hcarter8 · 04/11/2023 16:39

They are both old classics that won't really date so you can't go wrong with either but I prefer Amelia, Alice makes me picture a very meek, wet girl.

Toomuchwine89 · 07/11/2023 07:59

Definitely Alice.

But then my DD is called Alice Amelia 😂

Crunchymum · 07/11/2023 11:02

Alice by a long shot.

thunderandsunshine01 · 07/11/2023 11:08

Hm I’m in the minority. I have an Amelia, and really dislike Alice.
Both are very popular though, so hopefully this is not something that would bother you.

NugatoryMatters · 07/11/2023 11:10

Anything but Amelia.

I cannot understand why anyone thinks Amelia is a beautiful name.

muckandmerriment · 07/11/2023 11:16

Alice is nice but I've always felt a bit boring and middle aged sounding to me but I might be biased due to having a great aunt Alice!! Amelia is pretty. They both have good meanings - Alice is noble, Amelia is hardworking. What matters is what you like the most, what works with your surname and any middle names. Also whether not you will have a nick name or she will want to shorten her name. We know both a Mimi & a Mina who are actually Amelia. Alice is harder to shorten.
