Hi there, would appreciate some ideas.
Expecting a baby girl. I love the name Rose and have my heart set on calling my daughter this, have loved this since I was a child. However we would like a variation of Mary as a middle name. (family name/ also like the religious link as a Catholic)

I am also open to a Variation of rose followed by Mary but will use Rose anyway on a daily basis. Not a fan of rosemary. Last name is Irish - think O'
I was thinking

Rose Maria
Roisin mary

But I am stuck there
Or do I have no choice and have to go with rose as a middle name on paper but call her Rose anyway.

Any suggestions welcome. Thanks a mil!

Could you have 2 middle names, and use Mary as the second of those? That way you'd split them up and stop them sounding like Rosemary?

fearfuloffluff · 10/10/2023 09:18

Miriam?

Ilikeyourdecor · 10/10/2023 09:18

Rose Maria is nice.

Rose Miriam?
Rose Marion?
Mary-Rose?

I don't really understand what the problem is with Rose Mary though. Middle names are rarely said so I don't imagine it would turn in to Rosemary.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 10/10/2023 09:22

Rose Maria or Róisín Mary are both nice, although I prefer Mary Rose.

What about Rosina Mary or Roseanna Mary?

Basically these are all good names, you can't go wrong.

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 10/10/2023 09:28

You say varying Rose could work? Ok how about
Rosalie Mary? or Rosamund Mary? Rosanna Mary?

If you are dead set on Rose then how about one of the international variants of Mary like Marisca, Marika, Marianne ?

Mary Rose - beautiful and classic

Flev · 10/10/2023 10:16

It may be just me, but Mary Rose just makes me think of the ship of the same name

Ididivfama · 10/10/2023 10:18

I love Rosa Maria

peaceinourtime · 10/10/2023 10:37

I think Rose as a first name and Mary as a middle name are fine. As mentioned the middle name is rarely used/ comes up so it won’t be widely known.

TheYear2000 · 10/10/2023 10:58

Roisin Mary is a lovely name! Go for that!

Starbaristhebestbar · 10/10/2023 12:19

Was a bit nervous about posting - had comments in real life about how both names were dull/boring. I am quite attached to those names so really appreciate all the lovely responses. Thank you!

Rosa Maria is lovely, and you can shorten Rosa to Rose.

ConnieTucker · 10/10/2023 23:22

My aunt is a Rose Marie.

WhatWillEyeCallMyself · 10/10/2023 23:26

Rose Maria is lovely. Or agree with splitting Rose and Mary up with another middle name.

Not keen on Mary Rose - too like the sauce that you serve with prawns.

Suchardchoccy · 10/10/2023 23:26

I have a 2 year old Rose, I also adore the name 😍 I like Rose Maria, but maybe I'm biased because my husband is Spanish haha. I agree with pp, middle names rarely get used but if it doesn't feel right then don't go with Rose Mary.

Daffodilwoman · 10/10/2023 23:28

I would not use Rose Mary. People will hear Rosemary.
Rose Maria sounds better.

Yoyoban · 10/10/2023 23:30

Do not call her Mary Rose - she'll sounf like either a ship or a sauce

Rosina Mary? (It's said Rose-eena)
Rosalie Mary?
Rosamund and Rosalind could also be shortened to Rose

I like Rose Maria too
Or go with two middle names, with Rose and Mary separated by the other middle name

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 10/10/2023 23:33

Mariah Rose?

theduchessofspork · 10/10/2023 23:42

Rosanna Mary

Rosalind Mary

Rosamund Mary

Rose Marianne

Rose Maryam

I was going to say Rosa Maria but TBH it does sound like the name of a ship

Got2getout · 10/10/2023 23:43

Rose Marie
or
Rose (other name) Mary

But not Mary Rose, because it sounds like a ship.

RaRaRamen · 10/10/2023 23:46
