Hello! Hope you can help me pick, my husband and I are having a daughter and can’t decide on the name...

We’re thinking either
Ella Margaux
Philippa Blair (nn Pippa)
or Eleanor Olivia (nn Ella)

pls let me know your thoughts!

I know it's a mixed up answer but I'd go with Eleanor Margaux.

I think Eleanor Olivia is quite hard to say because of the 2 O sounds. Ella is very short but Eleanor has a number of possible diminutives (including Ella) as well as the full name

Phillipa Blair

I like Eleanor Margaux too.

Not keen on Blair at all, Ella is really a nn and Phillip/Philippa always seems like quite a harsh sounding name to me.

I really like Philippa and love Pippa / Pip as nicknames. I personally don’t love Blair - it makes me think of Gossip Girl or the ex prime minister. But it’s a middle name and probably won’t be used all that much.

I prefer Eleanor to Ella - but both are nice. The El- names were super common here a few years ago but do seem a little less so now.

Margaux - I prefer the Margot or Margo spelling but again it’s the middle name.

I find the El- Ol- combination a bit of a mouthful.

I really like the name Philippa but am not so keen on Blair as a middle name. Definitely prefer Ella to Eleanor.

Philippa. Not keen on your middle names. Margaux is awful, Blair is too close to Blare, Olivia is nice but doesn't flow.
Ella and Eleanor are overused.

Margaux

what is that about ? Unless your upper class or French not a good idea. It just ends up looking chavvy

theduchessofspork · 09/10/2023 23:41

Philippa Margot

Far too many Ellies around
I don’t like Blair
Margot is nice, but Margaux a naff spelling

That spelling is cha*by in France, I can assure you, and no one UC in the Uk would use it

It’s Margot, or sometimes Margo

Eleanor is the nicest I feel, obviously it's been very popular for several years, but it's classic and elegant.
Ella is nice too, but lacks character. It's not distinctive amongst all the other 'El' names. What about Eloise or Elise?

Not particularly fond of Philippa or Pippa, just the sound of it doesn't appeal.

Was already coming on to say Philipa but even more keen on it with the middle name Blair 🥰 one of my favourite names ever! If it was me I’d use Pippa all the time though

AliceClementine · 10/10/2023 15:02

Ella is my favourite!

elliesmummy19 · 10/10/2023 16:06

Well my daughter is called Eleanor so I obviously vote for that 😂

Philippa as a close second.
