Follow on from another thread: DH and I are expecting in April. We don’t know what we’re having yet. We already have two DC, Henry and Isla

Just curious to see the thoughts on the name Ava?

My daughter was in a small nursery class and out of 14 girls all of them except my daughter and one other were called Ava, Eva, or Evie. No kidding. The whole town was full of some form of this name.
So I always smile when I think of another one. It’s very popular for years now. Which obviously means it’s a nice name!

Tribevibes · 24/09/2023 20:36

Generic.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 24/09/2023 20:37

It is quite popular. I currently teach 3 Avas (one of whom pronounces it Ah-va). I like the name.

BananaSlug · 24/09/2023 20:37

Extremely common

polkadotclip · 24/09/2023 20:39

As above, so many now.

KenIsAnAccessory · 24/09/2023 20:40

Boring. Sorry.

OverTheCountryClub · 24/09/2023 20:40

There are so many Avas where I teach that they have to be known as Ava Surname. Very, very popular name.

KenIsAnAccessory · 24/09/2023 20:52

What about Ada? Same but different? Adaline long form. AKA Addie which is cute.

SeptemberTime · 24/09/2023 20:56

Very common and I would say too close to Isla personally

DuchessOfSausage · 24/09/2023 20:57

Overused. I dislike it and it blends into all the Evie, Eva, Ivy, Ada etc

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 24/09/2023 21:00

Unimaginative atm.

BoleynMemories13 · 24/09/2023 21:57

Ava is beautiful. Apparently it's popular (according to the stats) but I've never taught one in over 10 years of teaching so it just goes to show how popularity varies from area to area.

Motherofalittledragon · 24/09/2023 22:04

I'd never heard of a child with the name Ava, had my little girl called her Ava and yup Ava's everywhere!

LastNightAPandaSavedMyLife · 24/09/2023 22:42

Very common. Especially if paired with the filler name of Rose/May/Grace. Blends in with all the Evies.

theduchessofspork · 24/09/2023 23:02

It’s way overused - entire classes of girls called Ava, Eva, Eve, Evie or Evelyn.

Also Ava and Isla are a bit blah blah

heartofglass23 · 24/09/2023 23:17

Unheard of until Reece W named her DD. Now everywhere

Liv999 · 25/09/2023 12:01

It's beautiful, I don't know any Avas despite its popularity

DuchessOfSausage · 25/09/2023 12:10

I don't find it beautiful at all. Ay-vuh. Ugh!
Isla is pretty.

I was going to say Heather Locklear and Richie Sambora.

It sounded fresh when they had their Ava but there are sooo many now.

OopsieeDaisy · 25/09/2023 13:17

Nice name but far too common, usually followed by an overused middle name such as May/Rae/Rose/Grace

peaceinourtime · 25/09/2023 13:40

It’s nice but also very very common along with the Evie’s and Isla’s. Use it if you like it but just be aware that there’s likely to be a stack at school.
