Is this middle name strange?

Thinking of calling our daughter Olivia, middle name Bloom.

Is Bloom an acceptable middle name or is it too strange?

We wanted something unique and simple for her middle name to pair with Olivia, which is obviously very popular and thought Bloom was quite sweet.

Trying to avoid the more common single syllable names ie: Rose, May, Grace, Jane etc.

I don’t like it. It’s not a nice sound to me, and bloom is a bit of an odd word. I might assume you were Jewish too, or have Jewish links, as pp said, as it’s a common surname.

It's traditional for middle names in some parts of the country.

• Girls get the surnames from the maternal line (mother, maternal grandmother, g-grandmother, etc.).
• Boys get the christian name from the paternal line (father, paternal grandfather, g-grandfather, etc.).

With her currently popularity my first thought would be you were a huge Colleen Hoover fan! I thought It ends with us was bloody awful and the character's name horribly twee (although Bloom was the surname in fairness). Sorry!

My kids middle names are the slightly ridiculous names I loved but wasn’t ever going to saddle them with as first names. So I get it! But I don’t think you should put Bloom together with Olivia because yes it does sound like Orlando Bloom 🤣Olivia Blossom works though!

At the moment a lot of lakes and ponds have dangerous Algae Blooms that can kill livestock and pets, there’s also chocolate bloom which is that white coating you get on chocolate. So to me it doesn’t have nice connotations.
