Baby Girl Name Inspo!

ActDottie · 05/09/2023 17:33

So we’ve found out we’re having a girl! Which we thought would be easy because there tonnes of girls names that we both love (we didn’t agree on a single boys name) but the more we’re thinking about it we still haven’t found the name that we think is the one!

Baby’s middle name will be Hope and surname begins with B and is one syllable.

So far we like:
Lily
Sienna
Olivia
Emilia
Francesca
Violet

Any other names out there that people can think of? I quite like flower names and want a name that’s not too unusual. Just really need some inspo!

Also interested to hear other people’s stories of how they knew the name was the one! Atm we both think it’ll be weeks after birth that we decide!

I love Niamh but was worried baby girl would have a lifetime of spelling it out to people.

How bothered are you about popularity as she will be one of many Lily’s and Olivia’s. Although at least with Hope she won’t just be another Lily Rose/Grace/May which are the current filler middle names. Nice but massively overused and there are many many Amelias/Millies/Emelias.

I like Francesca, not a fan of Violet at all.

ActDottie · 05/09/2023 17:49

Thanks for replying, initially I was quite bothered by popularity but as time has gone on I’ve been focussing more on whether my husband and I like the names because most of the names we agreed on are also quite popular names.

I think it needs to be two or three syllables to flow so from your list I like Sienna and Francesca best! I saw the name Jessa/Jessamine on another thread and think that goes nicely too

neverenoughwine · 05/09/2023 19:07

Francesca is top of my list. It's a beautiful name!

Love Violet from your list too.

Nice choice of names Op, very pretty!

My favourite would be Francesca out of your List, mainly because I love the NN Fran & Frankie.

Having young School age Children myself, the others are incredibly popular if that's not an issue for you!

If the surname is Bott, then Violet.

Viola - it's a bit like Violet and Olivia.

Consider the first name and the surname without the middle name. Lily Hope Bloggs will be Lily Bloggs a lot.

Agree needs to be at least two syllables it’s so hard putting the whole name together

Ivy is my all time favourite name and we were convinced it was the one but it just doesn’t work with our surname as our surname is also an object so it just sounded to but like e.g. “I’ve Bear” “I’ve Box” kinda thing :( was devastated when we realised it just didn’t work.

cherryassam · 05/09/2023 21:11

Thats such a shame! Ivy is a really lovely name, I think it’s one of those names that is great on a baby through to a grown woman.

ImaginaryHat · 05/09/2023 21:26

I have an Imogen Hope (1 syllable surname)

We also considered Felicity, Beatrix, Rowan, Juliette, Nina, Zara, Xanthe, Lydia, Fern.

From your list I love Francesca ❤️

If you have a one-syllable middle name and a one-syllable surname I don't think you can pull off Niamh or Wren, you need something longer.

I would choose Sienna from your list, it's really pretty. Although I have spent a lot of time in the Italian town of the same name so I much prefer to see it spelled like that - Siena.

Some other suggestions, no theme, just some that come to mind after reading your list.

Savannah
Amber
Eloise
River
Jasmine
Laurel

Agree probably needs to be a longer first name.

I love Eloise and Amber from your list :) husband doesn’t like them! I feel like I definitely have a type of name I like whereas the names my husband likes are a bit more random which is making it really tricky :(
