Am I definitely being stupid?

Going round and round in circles. Feeling quite rubbish about having called my baby Lucy like (to quote) the most prolific child / baby killer in modern British history (BBC website). I don't feel like I'm seeking this out, it's on the front pages of all the news papers. When will this go away so that I don't think about my baby and the nurse Lucy at the same time? I'm sure others have bigger problems but I'm finding this more and more upsetting. Can anyone make me feel better?

I understand, but this will pass. Lucy is a popular name with many associations. Don't worry, she'll love her name.

Also, there's Lucy in "Narnia". Maybe if you re-watch this, it will give you a different association.

Lucy is a really nice name and common enough that it won't be associated with LL. Like Rose West...no one associates the name Rose with her. But if you named your baby Myra, everyone would think Hindley. Really depends on the name .. Lucy is fine

This is exactly what I was going to say.

Lucy is such a beautiful name. Don't let that witch ruin it for you! It's just because she's all over the news at the minute. I share my name with a very bad natural disaster that happened years ago. Lots of people were killed. Nobody ever thinks about it when I say my name (at least, not that I know of!)

It will pass as the coverage does. Lots of people have used the name Rose and don't think of the serial killer.

Maybe try using a nickname for her for a bit so you don't keep hearing it all the time.

Don't be silly, Lucy is a lovely name. There are serial killers with all sorts of names like John, Michael, etc. It's only when a name is extremely distinctive or unusual that some (unkind and rude), people would make a connection and Lucy is not one of those.

Honestly - that’s my name and I didn’t even make the connection until I saw this thread. It’s such a common name. It is only in the news for now, it won’t be forever. You really do, kindly, need to let it go

My daughters called Lucy and to be honest I didn't even think about Lucy letby having the same until you mentioned it.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest
