What names are popular in the playground?

I’m just curious really to see what names people have heard on the playground recently or what they have chosen recently for their kids.

Wanted to see if my preferred baby name is popular 😊

There's loads of lists you can find online broken down by region, but I find something more visual like these maps more useful and easy to view & understand. The blue & pink maps are from 4 years ago. The London map is using 2021 data. Haven't found one that's more current than these though, but obviously the children with these names will be the ones on the 'playground' at the moment anyway.

Some of those are very popular on a national level, others I feel some of those parents were perhaps trying for a little less usual and may end up disappointed when they realise their child is actually one of many at their school/in their area (Luna, Mila, Aria, Grayson, Roman, Caleb etc).

Yet I hardly ever hear Isabella, Ava, Poppy, Lily, Ella, Elsie, George, Arthur, Jack, Freddie etc around me, all of which are apparently very popular on a national level. So you never can tell. Better to just go with what you love as it really is pot luck as to whether it will be duplicated in the playground or not.

Thats a great site. Just put my youngest's name in and there are none! My eldest is very popular and 760 in the year she was born, and it has remained high ever since.

The only duplicated names in my children’s classes are Rosie and, weirdly, Hendrix.

We have duplicate Ella, Elsie, Oscar and Ezra.

The girls in son's age group (age 9) are all variants of Evie/Ivy/Ava/Isla/Ida etc. Boys are all called Noah/Theo/Henry/Jake etc.

Oh that's an interesting site! My ds was one of 1.3k odd in 2019, but dd is one of 12 in 2022.

Dd1 and Dd2 have both quite unusual names so I’ve not met another of them yet.

Lots of ‘old man diminutives’ coming up through the pre-school-age boys. In a playground yesterday in the space of about an hour I heard Ronnie, Reggie (I don’t think they were brothers but…), Archie, Charlie and Albie.

Isla!! They are literally everywhere

In baby classes in my area (SE) there are a lot of Finley (at least 2 in each class!) and Freddie. Also Arthur and James have been popular.

Interestingly more variety in girls names, but one that I’ve met multiple babies with is Ottilie.
