Hi All,

we are expecting and although we don’t know what gender ( surprise! ) we want to be prepared for both girl and boy.

Whilst the name for the boy we are relatively sure on we are struggling with girl names, what does everyone think of the below?

Bella Luana

Too many ah sounds for me but I suppose not many people use their middle names or say them out loud.

OopsieeDaisy · 24/08/2023 09:21

It seems a bit of a mouthful with all the L sounds and agree with pp I wouldn’t personally choose two names ending with ‘ah’ sounds. Bella is nice, I’m not as keen on Luana but perhaps because I’ve not heard it before.

MooseBreath · 24/08/2023 09:25

It sounds nice together. If you like it, go for it!

Personally I'm not a fan of "Bella". It sounds twee to me, almost like a pet name. It's relatively popular though, so obviously my opinion doesn't match with many others!

MiniEggsAllYear · 24/08/2023 09:27

Oooh I love Luana. I think I'd use that as the first name, there's a lot of Bella's around where I am, never met a Luana.

KnickerlessParsons · 24/08/2023 09:43

Sounds like a Disney character.

Sasha19052 · 24/08/2023 09:46

Beautiful!

AnnaTK · 24/08/2023 09:49

Already super helpful, thank you! Just to add that my first name is Anna and we thought Luana as a first name might be too close to my own name although it may sound better in first place!

It's pretty and an unusual combination, I like it OP.

I do prefer using the full versions of names though and Isabella Luana sounds even better to me- so I'd personally use that- and use Bella for everyday. I feel like it gives her a more formal name and options for when she's older if she wanted to use them.

LastNightAPandaSavedMyLife · 24/08/2023 09:53

I don’t like Bella at all. Firstly it’s a nothing name, it’s a shortening for Isabella or similar. Twee and blah. It’s also the no.1 name for dogs.

pp is correct it sounds like a Disney character.

Theoldwoman · 24/08/2023 15:52

The closest I like would be:

Isobel Laura

KirstenBlest · 25/08/2023 12:49

Not keen, sorry. I know an adult Bella, and she's nice but the name seems like it's short for something.
Luana looks made up. Luana probably won't be said as Lu-anna.

GoodVibesHere · 25/08/2023 12:54

Bella is a cat's name. I'd hate to be called Bella. But it's your choice so....

OhLookIveChangedMyNameAgain · 25/08/2023 20:01

I love it.
There are quite a few Isabella’s in my children’s classes who all go by Bella, so where I live Bella is quite Popular.

Valerie23 · 25/08/2023 20:07

Bella Luana

Bella is quite nice but Luana belongs on a trailer park. Awful.

SpamFrittersYouSay · 25/08/2023 20:09

I wouldn't put the two together, one or the other.

Louoby · 25/08/2023 20:10

Luana sounds like a made up name, not keen. Bella is very popular

HeddaGarbled · 25/08/2023 20:16

I don’t like Luana. It sounds made up.

Bella is one of those names that seems perfectly fine for a little girl but is a bit infantilising/girlifying for an adult.

I like PP’s idea of using Isabel or similar, using Bella when she’s little but giving her the option of choosing something more professional if appropriate later.

stickygotstuck · 25/08/2023 20:21

I like it.

Prefer Luana to Bella. Only because Bella sounds like a shortening to me.

NannyR · 25/08/2023 20:33

Bella is a nice enough name, not my taste, but it's nice. Never heard of Luana before - how is it pronounced, lu-anna, lu-ahna, lu-ayna?

FrostieBoabby · 25/08/2023 20:58

I like Bella, it's an traditional name not really used for a few generations so will be bang on trend now.

I don't like the 2 names together though, I keep picturing a poisonous mushroom?

user1492757084 · 26/08/2023 06:33

Bella is a very popular nick name for all the Isabelle type names. Luana is nice.

I find the combination too bouncey in sound.

Other suggestions..
Luana Blithe
Luciana Belle
Luella Bridie
Susanna Lucy
Belinda Louise

UnderCarraigeWoes · 26/08/2023 07:00

I think there's a Floridian retirement complex called Bella Luana.

cptartapp · 26/08/2023 07:39

Both awful.

Santasjingleballs · 26/08/2023 07:51

Sounds like a dogs name

Samzzz · 26/08/2023 09:56

Bella is nice but very popular. Don’t like Luana
