This is our short list, time is running out.

Which do you like best? Any downsides we haven't thought of?

If we like those, what other names should we consider?

I really like them all.

If my 5 month old son had have been a girl we had chosen Zoe so that’s my pick as my favourite of your list.

fartfacenotfatface · 17/08/2023 10:16

Claudia - lovely

Emily - nice but quite popular

Lily - Again, nice but VERY popular

Zoe - like it a lot (but prefer it spelled as Zoë)

Sian - another pretty name but often mispronounced unless you're in Wales (people will read as Sy-ann instead of Sh-ah-n). And if you are intending it to be the Welsh name, it's spelled Siân.

PossiblyNotOne · 17/08/2023 11:47

Lily is immensely popular so it’s become overused and a bit dull if I’m honest. Every school must have a Lily Rose/Lily May/Lily Grace (so overdone).

I like Zoe. Sian is ok as long as it’s pronounced properly.

Maplestars · 17/08/2023 12:25

I don’t like Zoe or Sian, Lily and Emily are pretty but very simple and there are a lot of them, which is fine but isn’t my preference
and Claudia is lovely and seems totally different to the other 4, to me.

I like Claudia and Zoe!
Claudia means 'lame' I believe, if that sort of thing bothers you...

My order of preference: Claudia, Zoe, Emily, Lily, Sian.

helloooitsmeee · 17/08/2023 12:34

Zoe is nicest IMO (biased as that's my name). I really love Lily, was on my shortlist but a close friend named her daughter that.

SneezyEvie · 17/08/2023 12:36

I didn't know that! That puts me off it a little

I love Lydia as a name but I associate it with the sister in pride and prejudice!

Love them! but they don't go with the surname which is already a 'nature' word. Lily would have to be officially Lillian so as to not sound like a holiday destination!

We almost called our daughter Claudia, but instead called her Clodagh

I've never met another one and she always gets complimented

NN she goes by Clo, Clods, Cloddie

It is pronounced like Cloh Dah. (If you are saying it right it should rhyme with Yoda 😂

My sister in law is a Zoë, I like that too x

FoodFann · 17/08/2023 14:08

Nice names!

Claudia - love it
Emily - love it
Lily - not great
Zoe - I like it with a y
Sian - hate it entirely

I love Clodagh. It was on my list.

I like Siân and Zoë, but think Emily and Lily are overused. Claudia is ok.

Claudia - love it

Zoe - like it

Emily - nice but way overdone
Sian - it’s ok
Lily - wet and way overdone

Claudia - loved on here, but not much used in the UK. The ones I know aren't British and say it as Cloud-ya.
Emily - very popular.
Lily - overused
Zoe - nice
Sian - as pp, Siân. Love it but not keen on it said by non-Welsh speakers. Jane seems just as nice.

marienylonette · 17/08/2023 22:25

I have a Claudia, pronounced Claw-dia not Cloud-dia. "I'm not a weather description" as my 11yo daughter says!

The definition of 'lane' bothered me initially. But I got over it quick. And who really in this day and age looks that up, and so what? I love it as a name and I've only met one other so far.

We use nickname Clo and Coco.

marienylonette · 17/08/2023 22:25

'Lame' I mean

beconase · 17/08/2023 22:31

Zoe is my favourite. Pretty and cool, not unusual but not overly popular at all.

Lily and Emily are really pretty but both extremely popular, I know countless Lily’s teenage and below.

Sian is nice but seems a bit ‘middle-age’ to me

Dislike Claudia, not sure why, I think it’s the ‘Claw’ in it makes it sound harsh to me.

beconase · 17/08/2023 22:34

What about Chloe? Kind of combination of Claudia and Zoe
