What are your thoughts on the name Tara for a girl? Tia

Yes, and in the US it IS downmarket as a PP said.

But not in the UK.

Is it downmarket in the usa? I hear it as quite a classic choice, its classy in its simplicity. Never knew it was down market in the USA , but they have their own references, eg, daughters called McKenzie, Kennedy, Harper and Taylor. What sounds ''classy'' in America is very different.

Indian or Irish, possibly.

Tara is feminine and smart.

I also like Sara, Cara, Lara. Mara, Java, Zara and Vera.

Beautiful name

I don't dislike it but I do find it somewhat dated. It's probably unusual among the current generation of children though.

I think of the place, the seat of the High Kings of Ireland. I like it.
