We have a shortlist of very different names and struggling to make a decision and due date is approaching!

Holly
Savannah
Sienna
Paloma

For context we're British and really liked the idea of our daughter having a name you don't hear everyday but equally don't want it to Cole across trashy.

Any thoughts very welcome 🙂

How about Susannah instead of Savannah?

Saying that, I love Paloma.

Mumofgirls2017 · 19/07/2023 22:39

Paloma. Holly second.

Fivebeanchilli · 19/07/2023 22:39

Sienna and Holly are exactly the kind of names you hear every day!
Savannah, despite the queen's granddaughter, is a bit trashy to be honest.
Paloma is nice although I would assume she was named after Paloma Faith.

How about Polly which is a much nicer name (imo) than Holly and far more unusual?

Or Clarissa, Perdita, Tabitha, Cecily?

Fivebeanchilli · 19/07/2023 22:40

Oh, pp suggestion of Susannah is a great one. Similar sound to Savannah but really unusual nowadays.

TomatoSandwiches · 19/07/2023 22:57

Susannah is much nicer than any on your list op.

Theoldwoman · 19/07/2023 23:39

Below is a great name!

Otherwise Sienna is okay!

Paloma I dislike.

Holly and Savannah are cute but quite well known.
Sienna is nice but popular.

Inspired from your list ..
Polly

Sienna is super common recently, not at all rare. Savannah is a nice sound but has a bit of a stripper vibe. Holly is boring and all the Hollys I know are horrible school bullies! Paloma is a gorgeous Spanish name meaning ‘dove’ and is often used as an honour name for the Virgin Mary - I think it’s beautiful. By far the best.

garlictwist · 20/07/2023 05:57

Really dislike sienna and savannah. The others are ok.

GiddyGladys · 20/07/2023 07:13

Not a fan of Paloma, it sounds too much like a horse name and I'm not sure why?

Sienna is lovely but everywhere.

cptartapp · 20/07/2023 07:17

With your criteria I would avoid Sienna and Savannah.

MerryChristmasToYou · 20/07/2023 07:33

@GiddyGladys , Palomino - Wikipedia

I'd think Paloma was named after Paloma Faith too.

Susannah is lovely and not overused and much nicer than anything in the OP.

Thank you so much. Makes sense now.

Bluevelvetsofa · 20/07/2023 17:16

I like Paloma. One meaning is ‘dove’.

Piper?

User6761 · 20/07/2023 21:04

Much prefer PPs suggestions of Susannah and Polly to the original list. I think they fit the type of name you say you want OP.

shadowchancesassy · 20/07/2023 21:17

Not a fan of Paloma just sounds like pavlova to me. Holly is so boring and drab. Sienna is nice I've only come across 2/3. Savannah is my favourite it's such a glamorous name.

ColonelPine · 20/07/2023 21:19

Holly

Daffodilwoman · 20/07/2023 21:20

From your list I’d go with Sienna.

lifestoooshort · 20/07/2023 21:23

I have a Sienna we call her Enny not met another yet although I know it's popular
