Makes me think Fantasy - I'm reading a book with an Asher in it at the moment (another charactor is called "Gar") I wouldn't go down that route - Fantasy charactors are called silly names IMO. The Old Testament link is fine though - we wanted an Ezra too (fab name!)

I love it (for a boy). My Dh laughed in my face when I suggested it, however , which is his response to most of the names I like...

Asha, as in 'brimful' is a woman, a Bollywood actress I think.

Names like this are not normally my cup of tea but I must admit I like Asher. DD2 would have been Rowan Asher or Rowan Ashley, had she been ds.

DD is Asha - means to hope and wish. Longed for child after I was told I could not have any. Most peoples response is very positive - pretty, unusual etc.
