Not sure if you’ve seen my previous thread but DH and I have finally shortlisted our VERY long list into four names. We want to have the name picked out before baby’s arrival (soon) and was just wondering what you all thought was the best option. (No one told me trying to agree on a name would be this hard god save me 😂)

Ailsa
Holly
Inez
Leona

Thank you all again!!

DramaAlpaca · 16/07/2023 23:40

Leona or Ailsa

babysharkdoodoodedoodedoo · 16/07/2023 23:53

I love Ines. Leona is okay. Don’t like the others. Think you took some great names off your long list and left some average ones!

In order of preference ..
Inez -10/10

KirstenBlest · 17/07/2023 10:37

@viques , Ailsa not Alisa

Fat fingers!

BonjourCrisette · 17/07/2023 10:55

Inez - fabulous
Leona - pretty but a bit meh
Ailsa - I can't decide if this is really interesting or a bit too old lady
Holly - no, awful

17caterpillars1mouse · 17/07/2023 11:52

Ailsa - I don't know how to say it, but also names beginning with a vowel and ending in a A are very popular at the moment and all seem to blend together so I would avoid. My least favourite from your list.

Holly - it's OK, kind of a classic but a little dull. I prefer it in the middle name spot where it is more unexpected

Inez - lovely strong name. Short bit interesting. My favourite from your list.

Leona - also lovely, see it as a fiesta name, can be shortened to Leo which I really like on a girl

KirstenBlest · 17/07/2023 12:00

@viques , I'd imagine it would happen a lot IRL.

Why are posters struggling with how to say Ailsa? @17caterpillars1mouse , it is AIL-sa, Ail rhyming with sail and tail.

Sunshinemum12 · 17/07/2023 18:56

All pretty names but I like Inez best x

Topazbutterfly · 17/07/2023 20:35

My favourite is Leona, I think it's a lovely name. Holly would be my second choice.

They're all quite different to each other, so why not wait until you meet her.

Ailsa - (AIL-sa, @FoodFann ). might get mixed up with Elsa or Isla
Holly - nice but a bit safe
Inez - I much prefer the Inès spelling.
Leona - might get said as Lee-OW-na

Fave is Inès but it's not on your list. Not keen on Leona. Holly and Ailsa are fine.

That's how my friend says it. How would you say Leona?

There was an issue once when she was being chatted up and he asked her name and then said The owner of what?

KirstenBlest · 17/07/2023 20:49

Lee-ona, without over-emphasising the middle syllable. Same as Fiona or Iona.

cptartapp · 17/07/2023 20:53

Ailsa is ok, prefer Alissa
Holly - yes, wet and dated
Leona - meh
Inez - dreadful, really

Fivebeanchilli · 17/07/2023 20:57

Ailsa - it's ok (makes me think of some TV programme ? Home and Away) but I think it will get mistaken for Elsa (if heard) or Alisa (if seen written down) often enough that it would get really annoying.
Holly - meh. Dull. Better as a middle name.
Leona - nice.
Inez - nice enough.

I would go for Leona Holly.

Sealover123 · 18/07/2023 23:45

Leona is beautiful

User6761 · 18/07/2023 23:46

Love Ailsa
