I have an Inês (this spelling). Nobody can pronounce it correctly, she now lives as an Inn eshhhh or Inn sh. Don't go there it will be butchered

Ps inherited daughter via marriage before you go for me

Randomnamex · 13/07/2023 22:03

I meant to spell ‘Leesa’ like Leesha , sorry 🤦‍♀️

That’s a hard no.

DuchessOfSausage · 17/07/2023 17:46

@MetaverseMavis , how would one pronounce Inês properly? Isn't it Een-ess?

KayEmAy · 17/07/2023 21:14

@TeleTropes haha yes absolutely!

MumseyB · 12/10/2023 01:00

I love Melody/Melodie which is the French spelling also you can get Elodie from it or Lodie, but absolutely No need to shorten & because it’s not a commonly heard of name here, won’t necessarily get shortened to Mel, as does the more commonly known Melissa or Melanie. Folks only shorten names if you or your child allow it. My daughter always insists on being called Rebekah, never Becky & we always called her Becca, which she loves, but prefers the full name. She’s in her 20’s now. Genevieve ( could be Genny, but no need) Verity, Faye, I Like Willow & Phoebe, also there is Willa, Holly/Hollie, Like Elle or Ellie, but from the full name of Eleanor.

Stand at the bottom of the stairs and yell up “Maribelle your teas ready” for each name - might help to cut down the list 😊

ThreeLeggedKitten · 12/10/2023 04:27

Romy Fae or Holly would be my choice

Jewelspun · 12/10/2023 04:49

Fae - no. Fay or Faye is slightly better.
Liona - sis you mean Leona? It's better with an E.
Kassia - no. Better spelt Cassia.
Willow - great name for a dog, embarrassing if they grow up and are overweight.
Inez - great I'd you have Spanish links. Awful if you don't.
Ailsa - ok.
Holly - lovely name.
Seren - only if you're Welsh.
Brooke - ok
Verity - quite nice
Romy - ok
Leesa - awful. Lisa is better.
Phoebe - ok
Spencer - not for a girl. Nice for a boy.
Melody - pretty. My favourite so far.
Emelina - no. Sounds like Semolina.
Ivy - ok
Tate - better for a boy.
Alva - awful.
Genevieve - lovely name.
Meadow - horribly hippy.
Elle - ok
Nova - sounds like a car.
Jolie - lovely.
Maribelle - I prefer Marielle

RomaniIteDomum · 12/10/2023 05:46

From your list I like

Fae (spelled Fay though)
Willow
Verity
Melody
Ivy
Genevieve

But it may be baby gets here and a name just "fits".

DDs first choice name went out the window the second we saw her - she looks so much more like our second choice name.

LOVE Romy 😍

user1492757084 · 12/10/2023 09:04

My faves are ..
Willow
Inez
Phoebe
Genevieve
Holly

MollyMarples · 12/10/2023 09:05

Phoebe, Willow or Melody

User6761 · 12/10/2023 09:30

Love Ailsa and Seren

Gnomegnomegnome · 12/10/2023 09:55

out of all of them the only ones that I kind of like are:
Inez
Seren
Phoebe
Ivy
Jolie

Inez or Ivy are probably my favourites.

Did you mean Spencer for a girl? It’s nice for a boy.

babysharkdoodoodedoodedoo · 12/10/2023 12:17

Fae - It’s okay. All the Faes I ever knew were a bit dim and dull so now the name has that vibe for me
Liona - meh. Boring.
Kassia - Love Cassia with a ‘C’, which is the traditional spelling
Willow - a bit faddy and overdone. Will date badly
Inez - love Inez and would 100% use it
Ailsa - wouldn’t use, sounds too much like Elsa
Holly - a bit boring and dated
Seren - see comments for Willow
Brooke - a bit chavvy and dated
Verity - I want to like it but it sounds like an insult. ‘She was so verity and annoying’
Romy - it’s pretty
Leesa - sounds dated
Phoebe - pretty but sooo popular
Spencer - weirdly like after Pretty Little Liars but wouldn’t use probably
Melody - pretty
Emelina - no. Looks made up or like a product name. Meme line is nice
Ivy - done to death
Tate - I know a girl Tate and it just doesn’t work for a girl
Alva - sounds like vulva
Genevieve - pretty
Meadow - it’s a bit… meh
Elle - no
Nova - no
Jolie - pretty sounding but I’d not use it
Maribelle - too frilly.

100% Cassia or Inez. So classy and cool. Phoebe or Genevieve second place.
