Boring? I just really like it.

Would love to call him something like Xavier but I'm really a basic bitch.

I have one and there are three of them in his year group so it’s quite common.

The one I know was surprisingly the only Ben in his primary school the whole time he was there. And was the only Ben in his year group at secondary.

Love the name Ben. No need for the longer version.

I find it really boring but I have quite weird name taste

RubyMurry22 · 02/07/2023 07:16

We chose Ben for if we had a boy, which we didn’t. I was slightly put off reading that it was a name often given to boys whose mother died in childbirth, but didn’t leg that put me off.

Really?
Benjamin's sometimes used for the last child, but most of the Bens I know are first-borns

Our last child is a Benjamin also known as Ben. It's a timeless and strong name

Giltedged · 02/07/2023 14:01

I think it might be because it means favoured youngest son @DuchessOfSausage . Benjamin was the youngest of the brothers of Jacob in the Old Testament (the father of Joseph of the coat of many colours fame.)

My 16yr old is a Benjamin, Ben for short..some of his friends call him Benji.(but this always sounds like a dogs name to me)

There was that film about the dog....

Love the name Ben. I had a Just Ben Onesyllablesurname at school. Two in fact. Both great guys.

St0nehenge · 02/07/2023 14:42

I like it. Know a couple my own age roughly who are actually Benedict. Until about 20 years ago, Benedict was more common where I live (than Benjamin)

Swearwolf · 02/07/2023 14:52

I know a Ben who is short for Reuben, to throw out another option.

liveforsummer · 02/07/2023 16:34

In light of the 3 letter second name is probably go with Benjamin on the BC but Ben is a great name too

DuchessOfSausage · 02/07/2023 17:03

@Giltedged , it means 'son of the right' (hand)

'bin yamin' is 'son right' in hebrew, like Binyamin Netanyahu which is near enough Benjamin Jonathan, according to my israeli friend
