My DH can't agree on a name and baby girl is due soon, we've narrowed it down to two favourites each,
Mine: Lucy and Matilda
His: Isla and Evie

What do you think of these names?

I love Matilda- congratulations on your pregnancy!

RuthW · 30/06/2023 22:05

Lucy is the best.

Rest are too popular.

Newbeginnings90 · 02/07/2023 00:27

I like Lucy best followed by Isla. (I'm Scottish so it's a good traditional name here.)

Matilda has me humming "revolting children" (the musical!) and for me Evie is a Pokémon.

whatausername · 02/07/2023 00:34

Whichever sits best with the initial of her surname or whichever flows best with surname. They're all so popular so your DD will very likely be Lucy B or Isla M etc.

momofthreex · 02/07/2023 02:28

Isla may be popular but defo my fave! Although I don't know any Isla's I do know Lucy's & Evie's

MissingMoominMamma · 02/07/2023 02:33

Lucy, without a doubt.

Fifthtimelucky · 02/07/2023 09:33

Lucy is the only one I like.

It's my husband's favourite name but I refused to use it for our daughters on the grounds that we already had a cat with that name!

continentallentil · 02/07/2023 10:05

Probably Lucy as the others are v popular
With maybe Lucia as a full name, which she might like when she’s older

Second choice Matilda - which I personally like better as more grown up.

Matilda was v popular a while back, but not as relentlessly done to death as the other two Avoid Evie in particular - some classes are two thirds girls called Eve/Eva/Evie/Evelyn/Ava with along with all the Ellies means you practically have to number them. All the other girls will be called Isla, Isabella and Isabel.

Names that might be similar but not so overdone

Lois
Zoe
Nancy
Cassia nn Cassie
Miranda
Marina (nn Marnie if you want)
Jessica nn Jessie
Stella
Estella
Clara

I definitely like your choices better, especially Lucy. I kind of like Evie but I don't think I would use it as a full name - she might prefer to be Eve (which I really like) when she's older.

SunshineAndFizz · 02/07/2023 18:34

Lucy is so nice. Definitely my favourite.

Isla and Evie are also good names but very overdone at the moment.

Not a fan of Matilda...can't stand Tilly or Tilda.

PurpleReindeer2 · 02/07/2023 18:36

Lucy Isla Surname works really well.

airmaxJ · 02/07/2023 18:48

Lucy

Violetlondon · 02/07/2023 21:49

I prefer your choices. And if you don’t have a middle name already picked, I would go with Lucy Matilda if that works with your surname.

Violetlondon · 02/07/2023 21:50

And the opposite to a PP, I LOVE the name Tilda. As both a nickname and a stand-alone name.

lastminutewednesday · 02/07/2023 21:52

Lucy is the winner
