What do you think of Collier for a boy? Too much like Cauliflower?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MonkeySeeMonkeyDoMonkeyDont · 22/06/2023 22:50

As in Coal Miner? I think they will be in for a rough ride at school.

cushioncovers · 22/06/2023 22:51

I thought of Border Collie

Totallyconfusedperson · 22/06/2023 22:53

No…. I used to work for colliers international

ShowOfHands · 22/06/2023 22:54

My entire family for generations were colliers. They occasionally died buried under ground or slowly suffocated from the coal dust.

No I don't think it's a great name for a baby.

Alittlesummeroasis · 22/06/2023 22:54

No. Sounds like a disease.

DuchessOfSausage · 22/06/2023 22:54

I like it as a surname but it's a bit too much of an occupation surname. cf Butcher, Farmer

HeddaGarbled · 22/06/2023 22:54

🤣

continentallentil · 22/06/2023 22:55

Mining

Maybe call him Nicholas and use Cole as a nn. Safer. Also delightfully Dynasty-ish

UsingChangeofName · 22/06/2023 22:56

It's the name of a job, not a person.

Chocolatepumpkin · 22/06/2023 22:56

My first thought was boarder collie 😂 sorry op

CurlyhairedAssassin · 22/06/2023 22:57

This IS a joke, right?

lovelychops · 22/06/2023 22:57

A type of cheese in aldi

DuchessOfSausage · 22/06/2023 22:58

How about:
Nurse
Porter
Judge
Baker
Thatcher
Tanner
Gardener
Cook...

SourDoughToast · 22/06/2023 22:58

Big no from me- it's a job not a boys name!

It would be like calling your kid farmer, secretary or teacher.

AuntieJune · 22/06/2023 22:59

What did you Collier child?

DuchessOfSausage · 22/06/2023 23:00

How about Shearer?

TomatoSandwiches · 22/06/2023 23:00

Politely op, No.

Dustmybroom · 22/06/2023 23:02

NOPE

Monsteraobliqua · 22/06/2023 23:07

I'm from a coal mining family and it was (still is in some places) a bloody tough and dangerous job. My grandad had an awful accident. I'm proud of my miner relatives' work ethic but not sure why this is a job you'd particularly want to use as a name. What is it that draws you to it?

QueSyrahSyrah · 22/06/2023 23:15

Also grew up in a coal mining community and all I can say is... eh???

shoopshoopdedoo · 23/06/2023 03:12

I don’t think it’s usable as a first name, for all the reasons already given

Spidey66 · 23/06/2023 03:17

Chocolatepumpkin · 22/06/2023 22:56

My first thought was boarder collie 😂 sorry op

Me you..

Muddypaws20 · 23/06/2023 06:41

My first though was Norman, no idea how I remembered him though.
