Beatrice is nice.

shoopshoopdedoo · 20/06/2023 23:07

I like them all! I have a soft spot for Wilfred but have been slightly put off by Boris Johnson using it 😂 I also think Zachary is lovely, though it has a different feel to your other choices. I prefer Beatrice over Evelyn.

continentallentil · 20/06/2023 23:09

I like them all

I’d go for Zachary over Wilfred

And Beatrice over Evelyn as the latter has been done to death

wildfirewonder · 20/06/2023 23:10

Wilfred - Boris Johnson
Zachary - no
Evelyn - yes
Beatrice - Prince Andrew's daughter

Pjmasksonrepeat · 20/06/2023 23:10

All are nice and I know kids with all these names. My favourite is Zachary. With Evelyn do consider that it has 2 pronunciations in case that bothers you (Eve-lyn v Ev-er-lyn).

CafeNervosa · 20/06/2023 23:11

I like Zachary and Beatrice… although probably slightly prefer Beatrix.

Wilfred I liked until Boris Johnson used it.

Evelyn is fine but personally I just hear it as two names “eve” “lyn” and it’s multiple spellings might annoy me.

FortofPud · 20/06/2023 23:12

I like them all a lot. I know a fab little Beatrice who goes by Bea, so I'd probably pick that over Evelyn. Hard to chose between Wilfred and Zachary.

DramaAlpaca · 20/06/2023 23:22

All perfectly good names. None of them are particularly exciting but that's fine by me. I don't love any of them and I really don't like Wilfred, but they are nice enough.

Evelyn doesn't have just two pronunciations, it has three. In Ireland it's usually pronounced EV-lyn.

If I had to choose I'd pick Zachary or Beatrice.

LillyCandC · 20/06/2023 23:49

Thanks everyone! How funny! I never put two and two together with BJs son.. also I never considered that Evelyn can be pronounced 3 different ways. I assumed that Ev-Lyn is boys name and girls is pronounced Ev-er-lyn but I can totally see Eve-lyn now too, doh

Like Zachary, prefer Zachariah
Like Beatrice

Not me on other two, and Evelyn is a pronunciation nightmare

Snugglemonkey · 21/06/2023 00:22

I prefer Wilfred to Zachery. I think because there is a Zack and a Zach (Zachery) in my sons class, but I don't know a Wilfred.

I think Evelyn would gey list in the Evie type names. Beatrice is lovely.

I never imagined everlyn at all, but thar us a horrible sound to me.

atthebottomofthehill · 21/06/2023 01:00

I find Wilfred slightly wet.

Love Zachary although please don't shorten it to "zachie" which my friend did and is just too twee for words!

Evelyn is meh. There are a bazillion squillion Evies and Eves and Evelyns around.

Beatrice is nice.

Judgyjudgy · 21/06/2023 03:20

Only like Zachery, the rest are old people names which I am not a fan of

Riverlee · 21/06/2023 03:32

All. Names are nice.

Don’t worry about Boris son being called Wilfred. Tony Blair had a son and named him Leo when I was pregnant, so crossed that off my shortlist. A couple of years down the line, most people couldn’t name Tony Blair’s children.

KR2023 · 21/06/2023 04:47

Friend of mine is Evelyn and she pronounces it Ee-flynn

Beatrice is lovely, as is Wilfred

Madamecastafiore · 21/06/2023 05:11

I like Wilf & Zach, both classes and non poncy IMO.

Evelyn sounds harsh and will be shortened to Eve/Evie and there are a trillion of them in nursery schools up and down the country, it's interchangeable with all the Ellie's and Ella's too. Just a bit Meh.

Beatrice is lovely, uncommon and love the name Bea as a nickname.

user1492757084 · 21/06/2023 05:29

Wilfred and Beatrice are nicer than the others.

Mumofgirls2017 · 21/06/2023 07:14

Wilfred- like
Zachary- like
Evelyn- ok but not keen on Evie and lots around
Beatrice- not a fan personally. Somehow find a bit frumpy.

PickledScrump · 21/06/2023 08:16

I like Evelyn as Ev-eh-Lyn but not as Eve-Lyn. I think it will just be another Evie though. Beatrice is nice, prefer Beatrix though, absolutely love Bea as a nn, works for a child and an adult. Not so keen on the boy choices. Not a fan of the old man name trend and there’s lots of Zachary’s about

DuchessOfSausage · 21/06/2023 08:55

Wilfred - ok, will be Wilf
Zachary - popular, will be Zac
Evelyn - can't see any appeal. Eveh-lin, Eevlin or Evlin? Evie overused
Beatrice - fine

LulooLemon · 21/06/2023 09:31

Wilfred - I prefer William

Zachary - love

Evelyn - not so keen

Beatrice - love

weirdo123 · 21/06/2023 09:31

I like Evelyn and Wilfred

LillyCandC · 21/06/2023 10:23

Thanks everyone 🙏 I do like Evelyn but not sure about nn… I like Bea as nn

Wilfred - I want to like it and I like Wilf but just find the whole name a bit meh. I feel the same about Walter, love Walt but the whole name just falls flat for me

Zachary - love it, it's on our current long list. I like Zach too but love the sound of the full nane Zachary

Evelyn - its ok, a pretty name. Just a bit done to death at the moment. At least that's how it feels in my area

Beatrice - I like it. Not that keen on the shortening Bea but like Tris. I do prefer Beatrix though, I feel it has more spark
