Middle name for Emma…

Birdiboo · 20/06/2023 18:21

I love the name Emma so much and it’s the only name I can imagine calling our baby if it’s a girl. I keep thinking of others and liking them for a while but going back to Emma.

Anyway, our surname is quite boring one syllable along the lines of Smith so think that a more interesting middle name is needed to liven things up a bit!

Would love to hear your opinions on the below -

Emma Eloise
Emma Valentina
Emma Rosalie
Emma Lavender
Emma Winter
Emma Sophia
Emma Isabella
Emma Primrose

I imagine that my partner will veto half of these 😅

Any other suggestions along these lines?

other names I like are -

Eleni
Olive
Lilah
Marielle
Autumn
Daphne

I think you want to be careful not to be too flouncy if your surname is also fairly plain.

I'd love Emma Hermione but that might seem like a nod to Harry Potter.

Emma Lucinda perhaps?

I’d avoid middle names that start with a vowel. I struggle to say them and end up adding a rogue R, eg. EmmaR Isobel.

I like Emma Sophia best from your list, but Valentina has nice connections for you and also works nicely:

I LOVE Emma Valentina and Emma Winter! Such beautiful names 😍😍.

From your list Emma Sophia flows best.
If you are open to suggestions, Emma Elizabeth is what immediately sprang to mind for me.

Emma Katherine.

Obviously love this combination as it is mine. I am fairly old (50s) but have been known at various stages (in addition to Emma) as Em, Emm, Emmie, M, MK and have liked them all. Currently, everyone in my life calls me Em. Great choice!

I really like Emma Winter, but also Emma Jane or Emma Louise are timeless!

They're not timeless, they're 80s AF!!!! If you're of a certain age people try to add in an 80s hyphen too. It's extremely annoying.

I may be biased.

I suppose I meant they're not going to be terribly unfashionable or sound awful in 10 years time. And no one has ever tried to hyphenate my name 🤷‍♀️

I had a doll called Emma Divine... was convinced I'd use it eventually for a DD!
