2 weeks to go - sister for Bertie!

First time posting - we are expecting a sister for Bertie in 2 weeks and need naming help please! We are struggling as we are trying to match the baby's name with our sons name but wonder how much that matters. Does anyone else have a Bertie with a sister and would share their naming shortlist please? We like European names and prefer shorter and more traditional names although anything considered at this stage as we are at a loss?

Bertie was our boys name but we ended up with two girls. Our girl shortlist was:

Astrid
Nell
Audrey (to be called Audie)
Mabel
Enid
Lois

Enid was my favourite to go with Bertie.

Alice was my first thought.

The only Bertie I know has a sister called Libby.

Some lovely suggestions here. Iris was the first name to come to my mind.

ideasformumma · 02/06/2023 12:19

Thanks very much for your responses. I've now added Nell, Camille, Beatrix and Etta to my list. Alice is one of our favourites but is our neices name!

We have a Bertie and younger sibling would have been Alice if a girl.

Mable!

Betsy or Betty were the ones that popped in my mind first. They have the old fashioned feeling while mirroring the shortened version of Bertie.

The Bertie I know has a sister called Amelia.

I like the slightly old fashioned vibe but I wouldn't go full on old lady.
Maude, Agnes and Sybil are not nice sounding names to me!

I'm going to add my vote to Etta, Camille, Nell/Helen and Flora.

MyrtleSmurf · 02/06/2023 14:49

Ooh Hattie is lovely too!

My Bertie is a dog so his “sisters” are cats.
No judgement though, my son also has what many see as a Dog namec
