Hebe - nice plant, hideous name for a child.
Jocelyn - not a fan
Agnes - ok, I know an "Aggie" so it's grown on me
Olive nn Livvy - nice
Adeline /Adaline (pronounced add-uh-line) - not a fan
Sibyl - awful
Bryony - dated and not in a trendy way
Astrid - awful
Leonora nn Leo - awful, sounds like you wanted a boy and couldn't think of any girls names
Roberta nn Bobbie - not a fan

Mumofgirls2017 · 31/05/2023 12:45

Olive. Leonora and Roberta are ok

TakeMeDancingNakedInTheRain · 31/05/2023 12:53

I mean they are all pretty ugly/weird, my sisters name is on the list spelt with an I though, the only normal name on there 🤣, her nickname is the male version of the name.

Snoopystick · 31/05/2023 12:56

Roberta is the nicest but like Cybil (prefer this spelling)

ReeseWitherfork · 31/05/2023 12:56

I love the name Astrid. Hate Sibyl. Not sure on Jocelyn. And Hebe is awful. The rest are all lovely names. Although I find little girls called Bobbie a bit odd.

GoalShooter · 31/05/2023 13:00

My favourites are Olive, Adeline, Bryony and Roberta.

I don't like Hebe, Agnes or Leonora.

The others are in the middle. Wouldn't it usually be Sybil rather than Sibyl?

Hebe- reminds me of having the heebie jeebies. Don't like it.
Jocelyn- like
Agnes- awful. Reminds me of Agnes Mooreheads character in bewitched- an elderly, grumpy witch!
Olive nn Livvy- like it, along with Olivia
Adeline /Adaline (pronounced add-uh-line)- don't like due to the multiple spellings and pronunciations
Sibyl- never seen it spelt like that and don't like that it sounds harsh somehow
Bryony- like
Astrid- like
Leonora nn Leo- 4 syllables so a real mouthful, esp if you have a longer surname. Don't like Leo for a nn.
Roberta nn Bobbie- don't like either name

Linkstolondon · 31/05/2023 13:11

They are all pretty horrific.

ICalledYouLastNightFromGlasgow · 31/05/2023 13:16

The only one I like is Livvy but don't like Olive. Jocelyn us best of the rest.

bluechameleon · 31/05/2023 13:32

I like Olive, Adeline, Astrid and Bryony. Bryony is my favourite.

ThePersistenceOfMammories · 31/05/2023 14:06

I think I’ve spoken with you before. If you’re the poster I’m thinking of, (our daughters have the same name beginning with an ‘E’) then I think Jocelyn pairs nicest without being matchy.

also love Meredith, Nancy, Francesca and Gabriella for the same reasons.

DuchessOfSausage · 31/05/2023 14:23

Hebe - geebies
Jocelyn - prefer Josceline
Agnes - ok
Olive nn Livvy - Olivia is so much nicer
Adeline /Adaline (pronounced add-uh-line) - awful. Add a line
Sibyl - ok
Bryony - a bit Bryan-y
Astrid - like
Leonora nn Leo - sounds like you really wanted a boy
Roberta nn Bobbie -Not keen

17caterpillars1mouse · 31/05/2023 16:54

@ThePersistenceOfMammories yes we have! It's so hard as E isn't used lots as a name and my elder daughter was an even more underused name so I feel this baby needs an equally uncommon name too or it will seem a bit strange.

Olive and Bryony are absolutely lovely.

Dislike quite a few of these.

Hebe = jeebies
Agnes - just a horrible sound to it IMO
Adeline - not keen on any name with 'line' at the end tbh
Sibyl - not keen on Sybil and especially not with this spelling, just looks weird. (Perhaps this is a typo?)

Jocelyn
Astrid
Roberta are all OK, just not to my taste personally

yikesanotherbooboo · 31/05/2023 18:09

I like Sibyl and Astrid
Quite like Agnes and Bryony
I'm not keen on the others

SunsetOverEasterIsland · 31/05/2023 18:14

Adeline and Astrid are lovely and my favourites from your list.

Twazique · 31/05/2023 18:20

Also really like Adaline and Astrid. I thought Jocelyn was a boys name?

How about Caroline or Helena? Much underused these days.

CharlieBoo · 31/05/2023 18:23

All pretty awful apart from Olive

Justcashnosweets · 31/05/2023 18:30

I really like your list OP. Not a Matilda or an Evie in sight! Also my daughter's name is on there which is unusual. The only one I don't like is Agnes but the rest are good.

salamithumbs · 31/05/2023 18:47

I like Astrid, Bryony and Adeline a lot but really not a fan of the others, sorry!
Hebe- reminds me of heebie-jeebies
Jocelyn- seems very dated, makes me think of Dave's mum from The Royle Family
Agnes- sounds very dreary to me
Olive - not a fan but I like Livvy as a nickname for Olivia!
Sybil- very Fawlty Towers imo
Bobbie and Leo just sound too masculine to me, prefer Robyn to Roberta or Leonie to Leo. Even Leonora, nickname Nora?

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 31/05/2023 19:05

Bryony and Hebe are lovely. Not keen on the others unfortunately.

sunflowerdaisyrose · 31/05/2023 19:10

I like Adeline and Olive is ok. I really like Leonora but as a whole name, not Leo for a girl.

ourflagmeansdeath · 31/05/2023 20:49

Hebe - Not keen
Jocelyn - I think it's lovely
Agnes - I actually like it but lots wouldn't
Olive nn Livvy - No. Go for Livia which I love or Olivia but not a food.
Adeline /Adaline (pronounced add-uh-line) - It's nice enough but only as Adeline
the other spelling is weird
Sibyl - God no
Bryony - Not for me
Astrid - Beautiful!
Leonora nn Leo - It is lovely but I prefer Leonor and definitely not Leo for a
nickname, not for a girl. Nora is pretty
Roberta nn Bobbie - I just really dislike this
