Is Ivy Irvine too much of a mouth full? Or does it sound nice? I can’t decide 😂. She will have a middle name - Helen after my mother in law.

Love it.

Runningslow · 17/05/2023 20:57

I really love it too ( and I don’t often say that!)

MidsummerNightsDream · 17/05/2023 21:04

I think this is superb. I love the alliteration. It’s a great name with a bit of a vintage feel to it. I hope you go for it!

Spanielsarepainless · 17/05/2023 21:05

That has real style!

polkadotdalmation · 17/05/2023 21:07

Just no.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 17/05/2023 21:08

I like it. The Is make different sounds, and the Vs are well seperated.

Eye-Vee Er-Vine

Bit of a mouthful but most definitely memorable. If you love it then going for anything else won’t feel right.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 17/05/2023 22:30

Never been a particular fan of Ivy, but the whole name sounds very cool imo! I love alliterative or assonant names as I think they tend to be more striking - especially if you are using a popular first name which is less likely to be memorable on it's own.

Mimilamore · 18/05/2023 17:52

You like it, go for it, it sounds great.... sometimes on MN people seem incapable of being nice about names...

SneezyEvie · 18/05/2023 22:00

Not keen, sorry. Agree it’s a clash.

Ringaroundtheroses · 18/05/2023 22:54

Absolutely love this name. So well put together go for it!

mosiacmaker · 18/05/2023 22:55

I like it and people will remember her easily. It sounds good!

Orphlids · 19/05/2023 02:32

I really like it. I can’t understand the PPs who say it’s a tongue twister, or that it clashes. Quite the opposite. I think it feels lovely to say out loud. Perhaps it’s different depending on your accent? RP accent here, and I think it’s the best name I’ve heard in a while.

Too tongue twister for me.

Helen Irvine goes really well.

Ingrid Helen
Eliza Helen Irvine
Phryne Helen Irvine
Victoria Helen Irvine
Amy Helen Irvine
Jamima Helen
Jane Helen

WTF?

FayCarew · 19/05/2023 12:24

@TheShellBeach , it's greek and said as Fry-ny, I think

MaggieBsBoat · 03/08/2023 08:51

It’s great!!

(especially if you are pronouncing Irvine, Ir-Vine not Ir-Vin as some do)

Well OP did come here to ask for opinions. I don't think anyone on this thread has been unkind or unreasonable with their response.

Personally I agree Ivy Irvine is too much, it's sing-songy and I don't like the repetition of the "v" sound. Isabelle Irvine could just about work. But there are so many names similar to Ivy that would be much nicer with your surname - Lily, Anya, Elsie, Orla, Rosa...

Auntieofdragons · 03/08/2023 13:08

A superhero name! I absolutely love it and it’s memorable

LivingitLarge · 03/08/2023 13:08

Not keen on the name Ivy full stop sorry.

VenusClapTrap · 03/08/2023 15:03

It’s a no from me. I’m prone to spoonerisms though, so I’d end up calling her Ervy Eye-vine all the time by mistake. Shame, because Ivy is a lovely name.

user1492757084 · 04/08/2023 04:43

No. The names are too similar and, if you really like Ivy, you could use it as a nick name for any of your children with the Irvine surname.

Angela Helen Irvine
Catherine Helen Irvine - Cate
Ita Helen Irvine
Sophie Helen Irvine
Jane Helen Irvine - very smart
Victoria Helen Irvine - A letter V at the start doesn't have the same rhyming tongue twister problem.
