I found out I was pregnant recently. I have a son called Alasdair.

For boys, we had been thinking about Fergus or Ruairidh but I'm not sure as we are leaning more towards Ruairidh but then it has the disadvantages of being difficult to spell, and outside Scotland, people won't pronounce it right.
So if we like these boys' names any other suggestions? Doesn't have to be Scottish ones.

For girls, we did originally like Violet as that's what Alasdair would have been if a girl but it's lost its shine and now we're leaning more towards Lorelei but still not set. So if we like these two names any other suggestions?

Fergus - fine but a bit close to Fungus
Ruairidh - it will get misspelt as Rory, Ruairi, Ruari, ...

Violet - nice
Lorelei - not keen

Angus, Douglas, Magnus, Fraser, ...
Flora, Laura, Viola, Iona ...

Fergus is great with Alasdair! I love Ruairidh but the spelling issue would put me off.
Andrew nn Drew
Alexander nn Alex or Sandy (they could both by Ali / Aly though)

Alasdair and Mirren
Alasdair and Catriona
Alasdair and Freya
Alasdair and Eilidh

Whenever I hear the name Alasdair I automatically put Jeremy with it in my head for some reason. Fergus is good though, too.

I think you’d have to accept it will be said Rory… which is nice, but I guess you may as well save the hassle and spell it like that. Fergus is OK but prefer Hamish.

I love Alasdair.
I prefer the more simply spelt Fergus.
If you can cope with the spelling queries and prefer the other name then go for that.
