Amélie is pretty too

Love Amelie!
I would pronounce it Ammerley. How is it supposed to be pronounced? I don't speak French!

KirstenBlest · 28/04/2023 20:51

@bunnyrabbitsandbutterflies , more like Am eh lee

Imenti · 28/04/2023 20:58

I've got an Amelie and love it. 💜 I know it's similar to Amelia / Emily but we just loved it and most people I speak to don't know any other Amelie's or haven't heard the name before.

Celine feels a bit dated, but I am biased!! Xxx

Celine. But probably spell it Selene because of the comparison with the singer.

This is not an alternative spelling. It is a different name altogether. Different meaning. Different pronunciation.

Without an r. There is no r in it.

How about Cecily?

GroovyHedgehog · 28/04/2023 23:04

Or Cecile?

I'm really not a fan of Amelie for some reason, even though technically it should be a beautiful name. It definitely feels very overdone. Not sure what people mean about pronunciation being varied, I'm sure there's only one way? Alternative would be Amelia which I do really like.

If you like Selina or Selena then I absolutely love that plus it's really different

How is it pronounced differently? It sounds the same in my accent.

You're right that it has a different meaning. They both have nice meanings.

MUMOF2015 · 29/04/2023 14:01

I've got an Amelie and you do need to get used to people constantly saying Amelia! Still love it though ❤️

TrueScrumptious · 29/04/2023 14:07

Amelie is now cringey unless you are French. Celine is better but Selina or Selene are better.

Skybluepinky · 29/04/2023 15:31

How about Celyn

KirstenBlest · 29/04/2023 15:39

Celyn is a masculine noun sometimes used as a name in Wales.
It's pronounced Kellin, and means Holly
