Elective CS tomorrow, no idea whether we’re having a boy or a girl but are absolutely stuck on a favourite name for a girl.

What are your thoughts on:
Maeva
Mallory / Malorie
Margo
Violet

Our surname is Irish and begins with M…

Oh I LOVE Mallory so so much but it has such an unfortunate meaning but if name-meanings don’t bother you then I’d go for it!

Maeva & Margo are beautiful aswell.

Wishing you luck for tomorrow and for the safe arrival of your baby 🤍

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 18/04/2023 20:35

I love Mallory!

DarlingG · 18/04/2023 20:36

I actually like them all for about the first time ever when reading someone’s list 😂 Bizarrely I saw the name Mallory yesterday and thought what a lovely name it is so I think I’d go that as my favourite but they are all nice

good luck for tomorrow! I’m sure itl be great

KirstenBlest · 18/04/2023 20:37

Violet is by far the nicest on your list
Good luck for tomorrow!

IceCreamWithSprinkles · 18/04/2023 20:38

I really like Mallory, I don’t know any but now I’m surprised I don’t! Does it flow ok with your surname? Alliterative names can be a bit hit and miss.

good luck!

PickledScrump · 18/04/2023 20:55

Maeva is beautiful.
Mallory has an unfortunate meaning.
Margo and Violet I don’t like

Coffeeandbourbons · 18/04/2023 20:57

Margot/Margo purely for the great alliteration with your surname. How exciting! Let us know what you have 😊

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 18/04/2023 20:58

All lovely names! Violet is my favourite, and if it suits your surname my choice would be Violet Mallory (presuming you don’t have a middle name chosen already!)

Good luck! 🥰

IfYouLikePinaCoIadas · 18/04/2023 21:00

Mallory, by far.
Margot spelled like that.

Really dislike the other two.
Good luck!

DramaAlpaca · 18/04/2023 21:05

Violet, by a long way.

I'm not keen on the others.

unicornjewels · 18/04/2023 21:06

Maeva or Mallory - both beautiful!

RobertaTheRotund · 18/04/2023 21:07

I'd vote for Violet

I do love Margot and Maeve but not a fan of Margo or Maeva

romdowa · 18/04/2023 21:11

If the Irish surname is Murphy then I'd avoid a first name begging with m. It just doesn't sound right

itsgettingweird · 18/04/2023 21:11

Nice names.

I'd actually call a girl

Mallory Violet.

It has a lovely ring to it. Different but not out there iyswim?

MiniEggsAllYear · 18/04/2023 21:12

Oh wow you have a great list.
Maeva is my favourite but only just.
Mallory and Margo (think I maybe prefer it spelled Margot?) are a very close joint second.
Violet is lively but more commonly heard than the others where i am.

Londonlady1423 · 18/04/2023 21:13

I love Maeva, was on our list but we know a friend who named their baby ava which we felt was too similar, good luck for tomorrow

Mazietops · 18/04/2023 21:20

Awe they are all lovely names! Best of luck tomorrow and congratulations! I’ve never heard of Maeva is that prounounced like Méabh with an (a) on the end? It’s lovely ☺️

As8ly4yn · 18/04/2023 21:27

Margo and Violet are my favourites. Congratulations hope all goes well 😁

redyellowpinkbluegreen · 18/04/2023 21:41

I love all!! I know a baby Mallory and love it. Margo is getting very popular but still love. love violet . If I had to ditch one it would be Maeva. We had 2 blt and 2 girl names and picked the one that suited her best! Good luck!xx

I love an alliteration so I'd be torn between Mallory and Margo

But I still love Violet

Absolutely no help

Skybluepinky · 18/04/2023 22:11

Maeva is the spoilt brat in made in Chelsea so avoid that.

Married2019 · 18/04/2023 22:17

Apologies, we absolutely would have a Margot and not Margo! It’s my husbands favourite name but I think it’s perhaps a bit posh for us (and also getting relatively common); he wanted it for our first daughter but she’s Annie.

Thank you for all the well wishes for tomorrow; nerves are kicking in but it’s nice to hear that the name choices go down well! ♥️
