Cassia is the name of the plant that yields the well-known laxative senna. Of your other suggestions my DH likes Portia and I prefer Stella.

Saffron - I love this and it’s nn Saffy!

Tessa - Cute but may be better to use Therese or Theresa as it seems quite nicknamey

Fleur - This is really pretty

Stella - I really really dislike it. I know it means “Star” which is beautiful but I can’t get past the lager association making it cheap and tacky.

Portia - Seems a bit try-hard unless you move in really wealthy circles.

Alice - Simple but classic. Overall a good name.

Philippa - Lovely. Nn Pippa and Pip are lovely too.

Camilla - I really really like this, I think it’s so pretty but you’ll likely have mixed reactions with how people feel about HM Queen Consort, Camilla. I think she’s a truly fabulous woman so I think the name is beautiful too. Might see a rise this year amongst people who favour the monarchy due to the coronation of Their Majesties. Camille is also a pretty option/alternative.

Elspeth - Not keen at all but can’t put my finger on why.

Cassia - I just think of Casio.

So of your list my top three are Saffron, Fleur & Camilla :)

Pamandherpampams · 17/04/2023 09:31

Tessa and Stella 👌

Tarantallegra · 17/04/2023 09:39

I quite like Cassia, it reminds me of Cassiopeia. The only one I really don't like is Stella because it makes me think of the beer

CurlewKate · 17/04/2023 10:07

I love Tessa!

Left field suggestion. Margaret. Loads of fab shortenings and incredibly unusual.

Mumofgirls2017 · 17/04/2023 10:16

Love Cassia. Also Elspeth, Alice, Stella. How about

Estelle
Cleo
Rosanna
Hazel
Clover
Fern
Esther
Thalia
Clara
Nora

FayCarew · 17/04/2023 11:03

Saffron - ok, but I'm not that keen
Tessa - just Tess is nice
Fleur - looks nicer than it sounds
Stella - like
Portia - like
Alice - like
Philippa - like but it will get shortened
Camilla - nice but too closely linked to one person. Not keen on Cam or Milly
Elspeth - like
Cassia - ok but I'm not that keen

Crunchymum · 17/04/2023 11:05

Saffron - love
Tessa - love
Fleur - not keen on
Stella - like
Portia - not to my taste
Alice - my fave
Philippa - like
Camilla - not to my taste
Elspeth - prefer Elizabeth
Cassia - sounds a little made up, could be a nice NN for Cassiopeia

babmi · 17/04/2023 18:30

Saffron - love
Tessa - it feels a little feeble
Fleur - reminds me of the Harry Potter character but I love the name
Stella - great name and meaning
Portia - I dont think this name is pretty sorry
Alice - lovely classic also like Alicia
Philippa - not a fan but I love Pippa
Camilla - not a fan of this or cam. Reminds me of queens consort and is outdated
Elspeth - not a fan but I knew an Elspeth and everyone spelt her name wrong
Cassia - my favourite

shoopshoopdedoo · 17/04/2023 21:35

Alice is my favourite.

I like Cassia I think… Is it pronounced Cass-ee-a or Cash-a?

I personally don’t like Fleur, Stella, Portia and Elspeth. Others are OK.

ZebraKid71 · 17/04/2023 21:38

Love Cassia, also Kezia as an alternative.

Really like Tessa too.

JeanieJo · 17/04/2023 21:50

What a lovely set of names. I really like Saffron, Fleur, Stella, Camilla and Cassia in particular.

What about
Miranda
Tamara
Nadia
Callista
Xanthe

Blessedbethefruitz · 17/04/2023 22:01

Calista or Calliope for relation to Cassia :) I only like Saffron and Alice from your list though. Baby girls are too easy, so mnay beautiful names available!

recklessgran · 17/04/2023 22:09

I'm biased - we have an adult DD Kassia - we pronounce it Kass- ee- a but her Polish/Eastern block friends and colleagues pronounce it Casha. Either way people have always complimented her name and we think it's really pretty and it suits her very well too.

lulalulalula · 19/04/2023 18:44

I like both Saffron and Cassia, both culinary ingredients but I think they both have a lovely sound to them.

Luredbyapomegranate · 20/04/2023 03:29

Love Cassia, and Cassie a great nn

I also really like Philippa, Tessa and Stella

Elsbeth is nice but she’ll end up
on of a billion Ellies. same for Camilla / Milly Alice is fine but done to death. don’t like the rest

Mummytobe333 · 20/04/2023 15:51

I love the name Cassia had it on my girl name
list but ruled it out cause the different pronunciations. I really like Stella too.

midsomermurderess · 21/04/2023 16:46

I like Stella and Alice. And would add Saskia and Briony.

Hi,
just found out we are expecting a baby girl. There are a few names that I like but don’t feel like we have found the one, any opinions on names below or new suggestions would be great, thanks.
Saffron
Tessa
Fleur
Stella
Portia
Alice
Philippa
Camilla
Elspeth
Cassia

I like Cassia, but the meaning isn't nice. Cassandra has a much nicer meaning so I would suggest that.

Saffron - not bad
Tessa - harsh
Fleur - won't be pronounced correctly
Stella - okay
Portia - reminds me of "portly", sorry
Alice - cute
Philippa - okay
Camilla - nope!
Elspeth - harsh sounding

I would go with Cassia, Alice, Stella or Saffron. Philippa is fine too but will likely get shortened and I don't like the nicknames.

Ideas: Camille, Elsa, Philomena, Alyssia, Poppy, Ella, Bella, Astra, Sapphira, Sonia, Penelope, Persephone, Ayla, Maia, Isabella, Chloe, Annabel, Ruby, Skye, Summer, Layla.
