Down to 2 names. Which would you choose? I’m based in Ireland if it’s relevant.

Olivia

MrsBungle · 03/04/2023 23:01

Violet. Olivia is so common.

NannyR · 03/04/2023 23:08

Olivia, a really strong, beautiful name. In the area where I live, it isn't common at all - I know a lot of children and I don't know of any Olivias under the age of seven, there are quite a few baby and toddler Violets. Violet is just a bit too close to violent for me.

Violet

Viviennemary · 03/04/2023 23:11

Violet by miles.Olivia isn't awful just become a bit meh.

PinkSyCo · 03/04/2023 23:13

I hate Violet. It’s so harsh sounding. Olivia’s much nicer.

Heathcloverpeaches · 03/04/2023 23:15

Violet ♡

xprincessxjanetx · 04/04/2023 01:39

I have a Violet so slightly biased but I love it and it's so much less common than Olivia (if that bothers you of course).

AlbertaWildRose · 04/04/2023 01:48

Violet! Beautiful name.

Snugglemonkey · 04/04/2023 02:34

MushMonster · 04/04/2023 06:42

Violet

Ncfgjdo · 04/04/2023 06:46

I know 3 Violet's born in the last few months... If the popularity aspect bothers you that is! Olivia is a beautiful, solid name- Violet sounds old and harsh to me.

TheaBrandt · 04/04/2023 06:47

Olivia is like calling your child Sarah in the 70s.

Number24Bus · 04/04/2023 06:49

Olivia

Tellmethespoiler · 04/04/2023 07:55

Violet is really awful, so Olivia, even though it’s popular. Viola? It’s much classier than dreary Violet.

SophiaSW1 · 04/04/2023 09:18

Violet

FayCarew · 04/04/2023 11:05

Both are OK. Olivia is slightly nicer, but it's so overused.
Livia could be an option - I'm not keen on Olly as a diminutive.

Aily17 · 04/04/2023 11:38

Violet is beautiful name

HappyMe6 · 04/04/2023 11:39

I love both

Mrsfussypants1 · 04/04/2023 11:43

Violet. I would've said Olivia years ago, but I've heard it so much it seems so meh, bland.

larry520 · 04/04/2023 12:11

Olivia, its popular because it's beautiful without being frilly. I've been a teacher for 30 years and can count Olivias on one hand , taught way more Lily's for example. Popularity must be regional. I want to like Violet but I just see violent and the Charlie and the chocolate factory character.
