Confused! Loophole? Reregistering and deed polls!

Hello!

Help needed please in an attempt to honour late family and heritage through name changes.

If a second middle name is added to child's name via deed poll, then their parents marry, upon reregistering the child, is the new added middle name included on the new birth certificate issued?

Also, if a parent changes their surname via deedpoll prior to the marriage, can the child then also take this new surname (along with the other parent), upon reregistering?

I.e.
Parent via deed poll-
John White changes to John Brown

Child via deed poll-
Jane Ann White changes to
Jane Ann Mary White

Is it then possible for the below to take place:

Child via reregistry-
(Original BC) Jane Ann White
(Deed Poll) Jane Ann Mary White (New BC) Jane Ann Mary Brown??

How old is the child? You can get a new birth certificate with the new name before 12 months with no need for a deed poll.

Why don't you search info from you town council webpage or ask a lawyer? Maybe your local community have free legal help you can ask?

Does the child want to change their name?

@LittleBlueBrioTrain I realise my posting in "Baby Names" is likely to have caused confusion. The child is actually nearing the end of Junior School, so has an understanding of what having the extra middle name would represent.

The surname change is simply so we all have the same name after we marry- just our preference.

You can give your child any surname you want.

we got married after our child was born but never bothered re registering them.

Where are you? Name rules change per country. In England I think you can change a name by deed poll whenever (with parental permission for children) so the marriage is irrelevant. Other countries are a lot stricter on names

I am hoping that the reregistry after marriage would mean the newly issued BC would contain all their new names, so they don't have to produce the deed poll along with all their other documents for the rest of their lives- hence trying to find a "loophole" as mentioned in title, by doing the deed polls before the marriage.

I don’t really understand about the registering after marriage, why will you be doing that?

@AprilDaisy20 the gov.uk website does imply that you can make corrections if the natural parents marry at a later date

Sorry just googled and saw that’s the case, feel like a lot of people don’t know that and won’t do it.

I added a middle name by deed poll as a teenager & never have to produce the paperwork.

@LiquoriceAllsorts2 indeed that seems to be the case.

We finally got around to it when they needed to apply for passports! We didn't have valid passports. A lot of stress that could have been avoided if DH had handed the forms in years ago when I bloody asked him to 🤣

@LiquoriceAllsorts2 I believe that technically you are supposed to, but also so we can all take the new surname. I understand this doesn't matter to some families, but it does to ours. Partner was given their mother's maiden name as surname at birth. Partner will be changing their surname to their parents' married name and therein honouring their paternal heritage, triggered by their father passing away. The middle name change is to honour my grandmother. Sentimentality all-round! Hope that clears things up.

I never knew you had to reregister!
My husband is on the birth certificate but we married when our son was 5 months old.
Our son has a passport.

Is this something that is going to cause a problem?

@AprilDaisy20 he has to do all pain in the arse phone calls and physical running around.

We had moved 300 miles from the registry office and yes it involves them and had 3 DC to sort out. It was one of the things I said "go hand these forms in at Registry Office before we move" 🤬

@WhisperingAutistic I'm not sure of the actual implications themselves, but if either of you took the other's surname, I believe the children should be reregistered to reflect your new name in the mother/father section of their BC. Hope this helps!
