Thoughts on the name "Luan" for boys name.
Means 'warrior', 'strong' and 'warlike' in Irish.
" Moon" in Portuguese and "Lion" in Albanian.

Makes me think of the female Luan Loud from The Loud House so it'll always have a feminine connotation. I just don't like it either way but def better as a girl's name.

How about Leon? It's much nicer imo and also means lion but in Greek instead.

Yes me too! My DD loves that show!!

Did you use the name ? I’m calling my son Lúan. I’m Irish and live in the uk. I love the name, it’s a very old Irish name. I got the Monday thing from extended family. I went to a gaelscoil till the age of 18 and I don’t associate it with Monday. I also don’t think it sounds like Lou Ann. The an in Irish is pronounced differently. I think people giving it slack are people who like basic over used names from the top 100 , everyone has different tastes and those names wouldn’t be for me so I wouldn’t expect them to like any names I choose

I think it's really nice personally and was considering the same name if I have a boy - I wasn't quite sure how it was pronounced but it seems that it's LOO-ARN so it's almost like how the name Juan is pronounced. Loo-juan.

I've prob just really confused people throwing a Juan in the works. My friend had a fling with a boy called Juan and we used to call him "Juan night only" so that gives you THAT pronunciation in case you were doing a Joo-Anne on it or maybe the Spanish Hoo-arn ;)

So it's not LOO-IN nor LOO-ANNE. At least not what I have found anyway.

There is also Elouan which is similar and maybe less effeminate. Same origin I think as in it's from Breton (or Welsh / Cornish perhaps if you go back further) .

Besides most thinking it was Lou-Ann, the things that put me off a little were that someone said it's rude or negative in Chinese and another said it's a piece of plywood so they think of home depot! And it's also that he would have a similar name to my nickname.

Still on the list though! ;) If you love it go for it! I have an unusual name and it's been both a blessing and a curse and you can always nickname him Lu or Luay..

I know a female Luan. Said (lu-ann)

I know a boy Luan, pron. LOO-un more or
less. He’s 14 and a lovely kid. I really like the name.

I know the name because of the Albanian connection. I thought about it for DS but the Lou-Anne pronunciation put me off.
I prefer it to sound more Lou-un
