I really only like 'Teddy' or 'Dougie'. I honestly have scoured the internet & can't find anything I like! I know 100's of Albie' s & Archie's, Jacks & Charlie's. I'm seriously panicking & at this rate will just be calling him Blob or something. Please help!

My husband is Douglas, 90% of the time he goes by Doug except that his mum has always and still calls him Dougie, which I think is very sweet.

EstherHazy · 12/03/2023 20:48

Thady 'Tay-dee' instead of Teddy - similar but more unusual!

@EstherHazy I really like this but at the same time feel I'm saying 'tidy' in a Scottish accent 🤣

In general, I like names that can be shortened if that person prefers it to be. So Daniel (Dan or danny) Matthew (matt) Edward (Ted, Teddy, Ed or eddy) Alexander (Al or alex)

Me too and I don’t even have a Scottish accent 🤣
I think if you’ve got scottish roots then Dougie is great.

How about the less common Dougal as opposed to Douglas? I guess people might say it's less common for a reason but I quite like it.

You can’t call a child Teddy or Dougie. They’ll grow up to be adults with the names of cutesy cartoon characters for the under-3’s.

You could call him Theodore or Douglas (really nice, classic, adult names) and then feel free to cutesy them up as you see fit.

And as adults they can be Ted or Doug absolutely nothing wrong with that?
