Harry?

DH suggested a baby name that I 100% said was not happening. His next top name is Harry and I'm not against it but not 100% sold for DS due in July.
What are your thoughts? Too popular, too plain/boring? Or and old classic?

Hal is short for Halitosis (bad breath)

I like it. It feels like a friendly name to me.

Harry is lovely if you think it's too plain how about Harrison?

All names can be teased if a bully wants to tease someone! Harry is Hairy, Harry Up Harry, Harry the Fairy etc etc

The biggest issue with Harry is it's overuse. It's become so common and may well start to fall out of fashion.

@Anskl I wouldn't say it's a safe option. It's not like we are toying between something like Atticus, Xavier or Harry and we've just gone "oh Harry, that'll do". DH genuinely likes the name and I will consider it.

@Reddahlias I don't actually personally know any Harry's but understand it is popular. Think it's in the top 10 boys names at the moment.

No offence to anyone who has a child with this name, but to me it just doesn't seem interesting or exciting. There's nothing about it that draws me in. I also think it's overused among the current generation of young people.

North Americans have a tendency to pronounce it as "hairy" which may or may not matter to you.

Bit boring and plain.

I only know 1 Harry aged 4 so I don't think it's that common- my job puts me in contact with lots of children and families too and not a popular name through work either.

How about Harris which is less common than Harry and which makes better sense if Dad’s name isn’t Harry.
