Ada is nice, but I don’t like the way it looks on paper. Reminds me of ‘Asda’ 🫣.

Rose is a classic and my fave out of your list. Hate Mabel!

Barleysugar86 · 07/03/2023 21:36

LOVE Mabel.

Unsure about Polly. I've known some Polly's who rocked the name but it sounds a bit unsubstantial to me.

Rose is nice but I know quite a lot of them now (and all the variants Rosalie/ Roseanna/ Rosemary) so I personally wouldn't choose it, or if I did I'd prefer Rosa.

Ada- feels like it should be short for something

Curlysusie · 07/03/2023 21:36

Rose ❤️

miniaturepixieonacid · 07/03/2023 21:58

All cute. Less keen on Polly than the others.

mellybumps · 07/03/2023 21:59

Honestly they are all done to death

Undermyumberellaellaella · 07/03/2023 22:00

I love Mabel and like Polly.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 07/03/2023 22:00

Mabel- I associate with dogs

Polly- sounds like a nickname

Rose- classic/ beautiful

Ada- nice but getting extremely popular

Dancingdoggo · 07/03/2023 22:01

Love them all. Rose is my least favourite and Mabel is the one I like most. Actually maybe Ada is as it’s more unusual.

Snoopystick · 07/03/2023 22:01

Mabel is lovely. Polly ok. Rose common. Ada awful.

LulooLemon · 07/03/2023 22:03

Mabel - no
Polly - parrot
Rose - love this name
Ada - ok

Twoinapod · 07/03/2023 22:05

Polly and Rose are nice, the others sound like an old frumpy librarian

shoopshoopdedoo · 07/03/2023 22:11

Oh I really love them all! If I had to rank them, I’d put them in the order you have listed in your post.

clpsmum · 07/03/2023 22:13

All lovely

Mumofgirls2017 · 07/03/2023 22:18

All nice. Preference in order you listed actually!

groovergirl · 07/03/2023 22:22

Polly would be my pick. It's upbeat, fresh and could be short for formal names such as Penelope and Paula.

Ada looks and sounds like an acronym. OK as nn for Adeline or Adelaide.

Mabel is sad and dreary. Makes me think of a downtrodden pensioner shuffling home with her bags of cheap offal.

Rose -- flimsy filler name. But Rosemary, Rosanna, Rosalind, Rosamond and Penrose have strength.

RunTowardsTheLight · 07/03/2023 22:24

Love Ada
Like Polly and Rose
Dislike Mabel

DramaAlpaca · 07/03/2023 22:33

A big Yes to all of them, especially Polly and Rose.

Bensmum1988 · 07/03/2023 22:34

Mabel - my favourite from your list. So cute when she’s little but can mature with your daughter.
Polly - second favourite although I don’t love it as much as Mabel but can’t work out why…
Rose - classic and was on a shortlist of mine ages ago but I crossed it out as practically every baby girl born at the time (at least who I knew) had it as their middle name.
Ada - I think this is going to be really popular in classrooms in five years’ time.

They’re all nice, though! Congratulations.

Soapyspuds · 07/03/2023 22:57

Mabel - For some reason it reminds me of cows and cheese
Polly - Parrot
Rose - Rose from the Mrs Bucket programme
Ada - Sort of like Adam but a bit fell off

Rainbowqueeen · 07/03/2023 23:05

Like Polly and Rose

Mabel and Ada are still old lady names to me although I know they are very popular

LadyGAgain · 07/03/2023 23:10

I think they are all beautiful names.
Mabel is very trendy these days.
Rose (and others like Rosalie Rosa Rosalind) are timeless and beautiful.
The other 2 are also lovely.

DuchessOfSausage · 08/03/2023 13:19

Mabel - frumpy, blurs into all the May, Maya, Maia, Mya, Mia, Maeve names
Polly - like it a lot
Rose - drippy
Ada - only good thing about it is Ada Lovelace

Notreadyformenopause · 11/03/2023 08:47

Mabel - I used to associate it with my Gran's friend, Mabel (who was lovely).
I don't know any new generation Mabels personally, but I do like it.

Polly - I love this! It was always on my shortlist, but I called my cat Polly instead.

Rose - I love all Rose names, but personally would add something "more" to it. Maybe Rosanna, Rosalie or Rosabella shortened to Rosie.

Ada - I don't know any, but makes a nice change from Ava.

Luredbyapomegranate · 11/03/2023 19:59

Polly, but I agree with PP not everyone pulls it off.. it’s short for Mary really so maybe Marianne or Maria as a full name nn Polly

The others are fine but there are so many May, Rose and Ada type names it’s a bit boring
