A brother for Nathaniel

I haven’t actually found out the sex of our upcoming baby yet, but looking at the scan I’m leaning towards a boy.

We had a really hard time choosing a name last time as we have quite different tastes but love his name and he really suits it. He pretty much always goes by Nate day to day.

On our shortlist last time was Gabriel, Reuben and Isaac but none were quite right and I think choosing one for DS2 would always seem like he just got the second best name.

Any inspiration? Our surname is a 3 letter animal.

Nathaniel and Elias

I instantly just thought Damien.

Theodore and Sebastian work really well.

Assuming your surname is Fox, I’m a little obsessed with Finley Fox.

Another vote for Sebastian!

I also know another Gabriel who was bullied and called 'gay'. He changed t9 using his middle name.
It's a good name but personally I would avoid.

It’s such a shame that horrible people out there exist where this has to be a concern. I’m sure for 90% of Gabriel’s there’s never an issue, but I wouldn’t want to take that gamble with my child.

There’s some lovely suggestions on here, thank you. I’m warming to Zachary which for some reason I’d discounted last time. I love Sebastian but really dislike Seb so that would be a no-go. We’re both big fans of Isaac but I know it would constantly be misspelt and it would annoy me.

I’m going to try out a few others too and see how they grow on me.

Not keen on Gabriel and both names would end in -iel.
Dislike Theodore and the two names together a bit lispy
Reuben is ok but a bit meh
Isaac is ok but sounds a bit odd with the surname, assuming the surname rhymes with Cox

Tobias nn Toby.

How about Heath - goes well with Nathaniel and is not widely used I don't think.

Blondbombsite · 28/02/2023 15:03

I find it so interesting what people see as going together. There’s names here that I definitely think have a similar ‘vibe’ but there’s others that seem so different to me. I find it fascinating 😊
