Please help!

We have a Maximilian, known as Max. Baby no2 is a girl due very soon and we just can't decide on a name. Our current list, in no particular order, looks like this:

Roxanne
Iris
Beatrix
Margot
Phoebe

Which would you pick?
Any other suggestions/opinions/help will be very welcome!

Thanks everyone! Some beautiful names suggested, many of them we've already discussed 😅

I love the suggestion of Sarah! But DH is not on board with that name.

Max & Roxanne - too much X
Max & Iris - don’t match, Iris is too old fashioned and pretty to go with the more modern sounding Max
Max & Beatrix - both of the reasons above apply to this combo!
Max & Margot - don’t like both siblings names starting with the same letter.
Max & Phoebe - great combo

I would also like to suggest
Max & Rosanna (Rosie)
and
Max & Caroline

BabyMoonPie · 04/02/2023 09:10

Agatha

Out of interest OP (and I often wonder this when people give children a longer name and then shorten it for everyday use) when your son learns to spell his name does he learn how to spell Max or Maximilian?

TheVanguardSix · 04/02/2023 09:14

Iris

Suggestions:

Zelda
Pearl
Sadie

Beatrix and Margot from your list.

I also think Max and Florence work well.

double points if either parent is a plumber!

Max & Molly sound like a pair of spaniels.

@uptheantrimcoast you need something that starts with a consonant so it doesn't run on. Don't think 'introducing them' think 'calling for them in the playground' & obviously what you'll call DD day to day, not her ful name.

Max and Florence.

Max Flo

Amelia, with Mia or Amy for short.
Christabel, with Chrissy for short
Eloise, with Lola for short

Max and Mia
Max and Amy
Max and Chrissy
Max and Lola

We have Max and Ivy

Pretty sure max and molly is the name of a sitcom with Melissa Mccarthy.

I stick by max and phoebe, but some other ideas:

Cordelia
Eloise
Imogen
Jessamine (Jessa)

Wheresmysewjo · 04/02/2023 10:47

Emma

Phoebe from your list

or Abigail

Margot!

Max and Margot is brilliant!

Max and Beatrix nn Bea or Phoebe nn Bee is also great.

Iris is lovely but I think the above work better as pairs.

I don’t like Roxanne - although Roxanna is nice - but you run the risk of Roxy which is bloody awful

A few others..

Marianne
Marina (nn Marnie)
Melinda
Miranda
Meredith or Merryn (nn Merry)
Lois
Carys

But honestly I think you nailed it with Margot

imeanwhy · 04/02/2023 10:58

For some reason I instantly thought "Isabelle"

MattDamon · 04/02/2023 10:58

Charlotte.

Ivy was the name we had chosen if Max was a girl. It's a beautiful name but we've not considered it this time.

Phoebe.

But Alana came to mind …

Out of interest OP (and I often wonder this when people give children a longer name and then shorten it for everyday use) when your son learns to spell his name does he learn how to spell Max or Maximilian?

He'll learn both, just as Victorias known as Vicky, Thomases known as Tom and all other similarly long-named people known by a shorter version probably learn how to spell their name.
