Don't go looking. It'll come to you. I found a few of my favourite names when watching Tv 🙂

I'm not surprised. You only need one name, or one name for a girl and one name for a boy. Maybe a middle name.

Pretend you're a celeb and do as Kylie Jenner did and tell everyone that you won't be revealing your baby's name until a few months after birth. If your parents say say 'it's been a month now, Sophie. what's the baby's name?' just tell them not to be so basic.

What kind of names do you like, @Lwrenagain? Stop thinking of a 'baby name', but think of names you like from your generation or your parents', or grandparents' generation.

Whatever you do, don't reveal the name until you have seen the baby, or you'll get all sort of comments like it's boring, unusual, awful etc. Once you say 'Here is Geronimo/Veronica' people will just say 'Ooh that's lovely/unusual/never heard that before', regardless of the name.

Ask on here anonymously, and you'll get all sorts of responses.

Think Firstname Surname and Initial Surname, not Firstname Middlename. It doesn't matter how lovely people say Isaac James, Theodore/Theodora, or Grace, is if they're going to be Isaac Cox, T. Watt, or Grace Nott.

I felt like that! Then this woman (a temp) sashayed in to work and she was cool, calm, collected, didn't care about being a temp. She was funny and friendly, and on her I realised her name was a great name.

I spent ages looking at name lists, websites etc.

Both my girl's names came from watching tv!

Pick a name that you don't particularly like, but will be the default unless you find one you like better. When you find something you prefer, repeat the process.

So let's say you pick Hogwash for a boy and Till-Receipt for a girl. You realise you prefer Adam for a boy and Eve for a girl, so those are now your choices. The following week you realise your taste is for longer names and pick Sebastian and Seraphina.

Even after one or two choices, you're probably already much closer to your final names than the ones you started with.

Ooh consufed I like that.

Amazing advice, thank you all! 🥰

Perhaps if you thought of your four favourite people and named your child one of their names.
