For sims.

You guys have been helpful before with difficult sim naming decisions, so here I am again!

The parents are called Davy, Dotty and Evangeline.

Last name will be Tolane.

The name must be unshortenable (I'm aware things can always be shortened, but it must have no obvious shortenings). Must also not already be a shortened form of a common name (so no Sam, Max, Ben etc) - it needs to be a name in it's own right.

Siblings are Lexi (I'm aware this doesn't fit the criteria, but she's Davy's from a previous relationship and her mum named her - her full name is Alexandria), Nova, Rae, Jett, Cleo and Zoë. They all have different first initials so it would be good if this baby could have too.

Middle name will probably be Peter, Ryan or Scot (family names) - most likely Peter, since that's Dotty's dad's name and she's the one giving birth, but then she's the only one who has a child's middle name after one of her parents (her late mother, Samantha) so maybe not...

If you have any good ideas for girls I'm open to them too - I'm 80% I will cheat and make this baby a boy since "Jett needs a brother, stat" has been the discussion leading up to this baby being concieved, and I'm not letting them have any more!

Identifiable details?

Like what?

How about Adolph, or Jesus?

Or maybe Bert

midsomermurderess · 31/01/2023 19:47

Chad. Some people will have a fit, thinking it American, but he was also a seventh-century Anglo-Saxon saint. Adam’s a good suggestion too.

PritiPatelsMaker · 31/01/2023 19:47

We have a Sam in the family named a short name so it couldn't be shortened.

We all call him Sammy Grin

It’s for sims. I don’t think she needs to worry about it.

Don't worry, they're not real - just for my sims game!

These names mostly all fit the criteria, the only problem is I don't like them! I may have to be less picky...

It's a big old neighbourhood but I'm trying not to have name duplicates to avoid confusion (even though you totally would in real life), so that rules out Shaun and Adam and probably Luke (I have a Luca).

This is for a computer game? How ridiculous. You could literally type in "asdf" and it would be accepted as a "name".

Thanks for all the suggestions. Lots to think about!

Zak is short for Zachary to me.

I like Seth (do I already have a Seth? I don't think so!) Does it have too many of the same sounds as Jett, though. As the only boys their names might get said together a lot.

Ian - fits the criteria but I don't think it fits with the silbings

Saul - maybe

Bear - maybe, but maybe a bit "out there"

Otto - cute, maybe

Dale - already have one in the neighbourhood

Guy - would be perfect, but it's one of Davy's brothers

Adolph - nah. And it's a bit long - could lend itself to shortenings

Jesus - maybe one for one of my spanish speaking families

Bert - short for Albert or any other Bert ending names.

Chad - I quite like this. But same inital as Cleo. Which isn't necessarily a deal breaker

Ross - maybe

Jed - short for Jediah/Jedidiah

Jay - short for any J names, to me

Ace - ooh, now this is Evangeline's style. Dotty's the one giving birth, but maybe she can be convinced.

Tod - not quite the right style

Clint - ditto

Blake - this is a maybe

Adam - I already have an Adam shortened to Ad (so he could be Ad Weiss, but then his parents got married and Ad Hart has less of a ring to it)

Aiden - maybe

Abel - maybe not

Kai - ooh, yes, this is the style!

True. But what would be the fun in that? No one's making you suggest names if you think it's lame. I'm aware I'm overthinking things but that's how I like to play!
