Feels a bit try hard, Barnaby and Lucas are the best, Jonty feels South African.

Rauha · 25/01/2023 22:18

I love Nathaniel

Twoinapod · 25/01/2023 22:20

I like Barnaby, Tobias and Lucas. I was in college with a Tobias and it never got shortened.

the others I really don’t like, Jonty is a very posh boy name.

MsFrog · 25/01/2023 22:20

The others are all nice, but tbh I thought Jonty might be a typo...

ShesThunderstorms · 25/01/2023 22:22

I like Nathaniel but only when it's shortened to Nate. And Tobias but only when it's shortened to Toby.
Lucas is ok.
Jonty is by far the worst on the list.

Luredbyapomegranate · 25/01/2023 22:22

Nathaniel
Lovely but now very popular along with Nathan

Lucian / Lucien (how would you pronounce these also?
I love it - Lucian is the UK spelling (Lucien is French) - it’s LOO-see-un (LOO-see-en is French, you sometimes get the feminine form Lucienne in the UK)

Barnaby
I like it although I prefer Barnabas. You have to be OK with Barney as a short form though.

Tobias (but not Toby)
I like it but there is a high chance he’ll be Toby day to day, so don’t do it if you don’t like that.

Jeremiah
Quite nice although much prefer Jerome.
He’s very unlikely to be call Jeremiah day to day, it’ll get shortened. if you like Zachariah, Zach is better than Jerry

Lucas
Nice but getting very overused along with Luca. Linus is nice, or plain solid Luke.

Jonty
It’s cute, but too nursery posh for a full name - call him Jonathan or John on the birth cert, he really may not want to be Jonty when he’s older.

Mumofgirls2017 · 25/01/2023 22:24

Nathaniel- it’s ok. Quite like Nate.

Lucian / Lucien (how would you pronounce these also?- Lucian I quite like. Would it get shortened though?

Barnaby- I’m not a fan

Tobias (but not Toby)- Nat a fan mainly as dislike Toby

Jeremiah- not a fan

Lucas- find it a bit overdone

Jonty- noooo. Find it quite wet.

Abasnada · 25/01/2023 22:24

I like Nathaniel best but it’s very American sounding to me especially if it gets shortened to Nate. Tobias and Lucas are fine but the rest are very pretentious.

Dacadactyl · 25/01/2023 22:26

Most of them awful except for Nathaniel, but I'd prefer Nathan myself.

Lucas is ok, but I'm not overkeen on it.

Jonty is horrific.

LizzieBet14 · 25/01/2023 22:27

Like Nathaniel & Lucas

tootrueblue · 25/01/2023 22:33

Wasn't Jonty the name of man who threw the poor little boy from the Tate Modern? For that reason alone, no to that one.

Nathaniel is ok, as long as you wouldn't mind if he wanted to shorten it to Nathan as he gets older.

Lucas is ok too but getting popular where I am.

custardbear · 25/01/2023 22:35

I like Nathaniel
I love Lucien

Ikeameatballs · 25/01/2023 23:14

Nathaniel is ok
You’ll be annoyed if people don’t pronounce Lucien/Lucian the way you want them to.
Barnaby is ok, likely to get nn Barney
Tobias, ok but likely to get Toby
Jeremiah is quite nice but I say it in my head in the voice of Tommy Shelby. Likely to get nn, Jerry or Jem?
Lucas is my favourite but getting popular
Jonty is awful, babyish with no option for an adult version unless you go to Jon, in which case just call him Jon or Jonathan to start with and use Jonty as a nn.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 25/01/2023 23:45

Nathaniel and Lucas because apparently I'm a closet One Tree Hill fan.

Babynamehelp626 · 25/01/2023 23:46

I don't like Jonty at all

Of those I like Lucas and Nathaniel the best
