I've got a donkey called Raffy. Consider how that name would sound on an adult, you're naming a person not a pet.

Awww I love Donkeys, defo an animal rather than human name.

Honeychickpea · 06/06/2023 15:44

I've only seen it spelled as Rafi. Somehow it looks better spelled that way.

My niece is Raffie (short for Raffealla) . It wasn’t my fave when I was first told but it grows. I think that’s the case with all names once you get to know the child you love them and can’t imagine anything else! I don’t/didn’t love any of my nieces/nephews names but I can’t imagine them called anything else and they all suit their names!

Yes, but your niece has the option to use her full name where 'Raffie' would be too informal, e.g. in a professional capacity. (Raffealla is lovely.)

It doesn't sound as if the OPs child would have that option.

How do you say Raffealla, @Tryingtohelp12 ?
(I'm aware that OP's baby will have a name by now)

lauraslops · 07/06/2023 14:03

I agree that it is a lovely nickname but I would put a longer version on the birth certificate so they have options when an adult. As others have suggested Raphael, Rafe or Rafferty.

Tryingtohelp12 · 07/06/2023 14:56

Like Raphael-la. They also thought she’d have the option of Ella as she gets older but honestly she already has such a huge personality I thinks Raffie works for her !

ReeseWitherfork · 07/06/2023 14:58

I roll my eyes at a lot of these trendy baby names. I find them really wanky (a concept of which I couldn’t explain if I wanted to). But I really like Raffy!

Possibly not, little Raffy might be coming into the world any day now!

KirstenBlest · 07/06/2023 15:31

@ReeseWitherfork , you're not wrong, seeing at the OP only started the thread and didn't mention being pregnant or having given birth.

I don't know if Raphealla is a typo for Raffaella, or if it's said as Raffella, Raffeh-alla, Raffy-alla...
Don't like it anyway - too frilly

ElmTree22 · 07/06/2023 19:16

We have a Rafi in the family, it's a lovely name.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 07/06/2023 23:55

Not a proper name. OK for a nickname for Rafferty.
