Henry and...

Help! I'm expecting a second DS and struggling to come up with a list, so hoping for some ideas please/ TIA! We already have a Henry Alexander.

We both like very traditional names, nature names, or slightly more unusual for the UK (we loved Soren). We're also tempted by pretentious middle class names but wary of overdoing it. I prefer full names to nicknames/ diminutives (Henry v Harry, Alfred v Alfie, Charles v Charlie etc).

So my 2 boys should be Henry Alexander and...? 😁

I love George

I got my name list from Henry Hoovers.

So the OP may want to avoid those names.

Edwin - a really underused name.
I also love Hugo. Not a name I’d have used but I do love it.

There is a thread elsewhere on MN about what vacuum cleaner someone should buy and Henry is very popular.

We do have one and it's fab. We refer to it as "useful Henry"

Your poor son.

There must be other good appliances/household items with boys names that aren't immediately obvious.

Our DS is also Henry :)

Expecting DC3 this month and if they're a boy they'll almost certainly be Laurence (nn Lar). Other boys' names we shortlisted were:

Alexander
Jules
Edward
Edwin
John
Hugo
Gabriel
Adam

Good luck OP!

Just re-read that your Henry's middle name is Alexander so that might not be a contender for you, though if DC3 is a boy I'm very tempted to give them the middle name 'Henry' in homage to their big brother, and because it remains my favourite boy name 😁

Purplemagnolias · 03/01/2023 08:09

Henry &

Edward
Arthur
Quentin
Magnus

I'd avoid another H name

OP what did you go for? I also have a Henry Alexander

VioletIsabella · 21/09/2024 14:53

I know a Henry and Samuel, and think that works well.

Personally, I'd go for Matthew James or David James.

Parker231 · 21/09/2024 14:57

Alexander James

Autumnweddingguest · 21/09/2024 15:00

George Sebastian
George Nathaniel
George Christopher

Or Samuel

Samuel George
Samuel Edmund
Samuel James

Or Jonathan - classic and underused name

I have a Christopher James.... similar reasons to you in wanting traditional names that coukd be shortened etc if wanted but also had to be pronounceable by people abroad and family who don't speak English

I do too.
