Something for example like Teddy/Eddy for Edward, Artie for Arthur etc. Thank you

This is either a piss take or peak Mumsnet

I agree - so many ridiculous sounding 'cute' nicknames. I doubt many boys would want such names

Nah it’s real I think

But TBF the OP is looking for a nursery nn for a full name, rather than actually calling her child Teddy or Alfie like so many people do. This way he can revert to Edward or Arthur as he grows up.

Please god, no more Albie, Artie, Alfie, Archie, Arnie’s please…

also did someone in good faith suggest “Arno” 😂

You want 'cute' nicknames:

Alfred - Alfie
William - Willie
Reginald - Reggie
Robert - Robbie
Theodor - Teddie
Oscar - Oscie
Gilbert - Gilbie or Bertie

My son is Gilbert :) We call him Gilly or Gilby.

I suppose Dodie for George has gone the way of the dodo. It might make a come back since the death of Doddie Weir recently?
I really like Sandy for Alexander, i know a little one and it really suits him.

... also did someone in good faith suggest “Arno” 😂

As a shortening of Arnold, it's reasonably common in German-speaking countries and no worse than Arlo, Milo, Ivo, et al. There's a very dreamy, romantic character in Edith Baer's A Frost in the Night who is called Arno; he claims it's because he was born in Florence. 😁Given that he's supposed to be a teenager in 1938, I'm guessing his parents weren't Mumsnetters.

Henry > Hank
Hugh/Hugo > Shug, Shuggie, Shuggo
Matthew/Mathias > Matt, Matty
Nathaniel > Nate, Nat
Nicholas > Nick, Nicky, Cole, Colin
Samuel > Sam, Sammy
Tobias > Tobin, Toby
Zachary > Zach, Zack

I like Jamie for James and Robin for Robert. I suppose Dodie for George has gone the way of the dodo.

I knew a guy who was named George but his nickname was Judd.

Hank, Shug, Matty Shock

Who wants to be called such (ugly) names...
